thewildrabbit
I find it seriously disheartening to see any player asking for that much money considering people all over the county are losing their jobs and homes. He signed a contract, let him stick to it or trade him,let someone else pay him. Lots of good tackles in the first 11 picks, probably 6 will go in the first round. SKOOBY
don't make sense, the owner also says we have no talent. BTW high draft picks cost money too. The draft picks will most likely not be asking for $15 M in 2011 and $20 M in 2013, history being our guide and Peters mindset. This is never going to stop and he didn't play probowl ball last season, he made it on name.
Captain Caveman
We should offer him 10 - 11$ million a season or so, but with one catch - no giant signing bonus. That way, the money's not guaranteed, and if he doesn't earn it, we cut him.
zdro22
they gave Evans that., and Peters plays a position that is more important. do you guys want to win, or not? see.. this is the problem with the Bills, WNY and all that,, its a second tier little town that has no concept of what major league sports are today... if you wan't to play you have to pay... that having been said,.. lets trade him..if we can get a 1st rounder+ Ive always been of the opinion that he needs to get paid, cause this is a position needed to win. But not at 13.5 per year. I dont think people are being small time. The guy wants to be the #1 paid LT and sucked last year. At some point athletes need to be reasonable. I think the bills need to do a hard self evaluation on chambers and bell, and then look at potential FAs and various draft partners for peters. You need to get him to agree to a more agreeable deal or trade him, this cant go in to next year.
CT Bills backer
The Rams and Orlando Pace never really came to an agreement on salary, but they kept him right up until he was all worthless. You don't let a quality LT get away, and Peters needs to realize he isn't getting away. While this is a lot of dough, I agree with a previous poster that if we want to win we have to pay. LT is a difficult position to fill and even though Pace has been to several Pro bowls it appears he is injury prone. Pay Peters and be done with it. Maybe defer some money if that helps make it work. Incentives could be added as well although the Pro bowl one is probably not a good one since he seems to have gotten in based on history and may continue on that path based on Pro bowl voting patterns. BillsNYC
http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/story/606369.html Actually says he wants more than Long. We have too many holes to fill and isn't worth sinking that much money into a player that doesn't touch the ball, had a down year, and was willing to sit out with 3 years left on his deal. billsfreak
I say no way do you pay him that much. I don't think based on his 2008 season that he is worth what he is making under his current deal. He is lazy with terrible work ethics. If he gets his way this time, in another year or two, after a couple more Pro Bowl selections that he didn't deserve, and a few more lineman sign for more than him, we will go through it all again. Don't do it Buffalo, be smart for a change.

LabattBlue
The Bills should put their best offer on the table(whatever that may be) and tell him the offer is on the table until 4/1. After that date, the Bills can dig their heels in or ship his ass out the door.

Trader
If you think Peters is ever going to stop holding out / asking for more $ your crazy. This is going to be a " par for the course " event every 2 years or so. Cut bait and take all the early draft picks so we can get. let him skip training camp again. he dodged a bullit last time with injury this time he is sure to tear something up when he comes in out of shape again. After he tears up his ACL let's him see how much he is worth then!

Steely Dan
I don't understand how the economy affects what he should sign for. From BN article. The top contract signed by a veteran left tackle went to Carolina’s Jordan Gross just three weeks ago. A week before he was about to become an unrestricted free agent, he signed a six-year contract worth about $60 million, with $30.5 million in the first three years of the deal. Gross, 28, is a six-year veteran who made his first Pro Bowl last season. Peters, 27, is a five-year veteran and a three-year starter. He made his second straight Pro Bowl in 2008. _____________________________________________________________ From Rotoworld Jordan Gross Tackle 2/19/2009: Signed a six-year, $60 million contract. The deal includes $30.5 million in the first three seasons. 2009: $5 million, 2010: $4.5 million, 2011: $6 million, 2012: $7.5 million, 2013: $9 million, 2014: $7.4 million, 2015: Free Agent Jake Long Tackle 4/22/2008: Signed a five-year, $57.75 million contract. The deal includes $30 million guaranteed. Year six voided based on rookie-year playing time (Long started all 16 games). 2009: $3.75 million, 2010: $4.5 million, 2011: $5.25 million, 2012: $6 million, 2013: $6.75 million (Voided Year), 2014: Free Agent I don't see where his demands are unreasonable. Cookiemonster
I told you that he was a bum, a malcontent, and a cancer didn't I, now if we can find a way to split the differnce, sign him up. I was one of the ones that wanted him traded, but I really don't think that that is going to help us now, we would have too much chemistry issues with all of the changes on the OL, we need some continuity, and our draft needs are too big in other areas. Dockery being gone, and Hangartner being new, we might just have to cave some, then maybe we can work a deal (trade) for him next year, unless that is his FA year. We have a chance to strike while the iron is hot with TO now, we have to protect Trent, and a motivated, even mildly, Peters, probably gives us the best chance to do that. San Jose Bills Fan
It's too bad we didn't simply rework his contract last year or the year before: March 2007: Bills re-sign Chris Kelsay to ridiculous 4 year, $23 million contract. August 2007: Bills tear up last 3 years of Aaron Schobel's contract and give him 5 year $50 million contract to assure he's the highest paid D lineman on the Bills. Said Schobel "Obviously, I had three years left on my deal so they didn't have to do anything ..." March 2007: Bills sign Derrick Dockery to 7 year $49 million contract. Subsequently, Jason Peters continues to play under the 5 years $15 million contract he was given after being promoted to right offensive tackle over Mike Williams. January 2008: Peters is selected to the Pro Bowl. The Bills do nothing. January 2009: Peters selected to a second Pro Bowl. March 2009: Dockery is cut. Why the preferential treatment for Schobel and the stiffing of Peters? Every time I post this the thread dies out, except for VABillsfan who says it's racist. Is everyone going to continue to ignore this issue...
