Poeticlaw
So we have finally acquired the possession receiver we so desperately needed. We have our Back up QB, and our Nickel Back and Starting C. What do we have left and where should we get it? 1)Starting LG- TRADE 2)Starting either MLB or LOLB( depending on the talent & what they want to do with POZ) FA 3)Starting FS or Safety- FA 4)Starting TE- Draft or ( trade if its the right value and fit) 5)Starting or Back up DT ( hard to tell i would say starting but the team might not think so)- FA or TRADE 6)Starting or Back up DE ( sound more like a back up to groom for starting when they used the word situational)-Draft 7)Back Up C- Draft 8)Back up LB- Draft 9)Back up RB- Draft or FA I would draft over FA I have 1 trade LG I have 3 FA signings left LB/S/DL I have 5 Drafted Then of courese there is always the slim posibility of finding a nice undrafted FA after the draft How do you see the rest of the off season needs and where they should be taken FA/TRADE/Draft keep in Mind the level of talent you want to replace them eith and the feasibility of obtaining that talent and in which pool is more feasible to obtain it. ax4782
I think we need to find a LG in FA, and one with a modicum of starting experience on a good line. Trading for Waters from KC would get that done, but I also think that Kendall Simmons is good enough to fill that role. I think we need to sign at least one more OLB in FA as well, preferably Keiaho or June, whichever we can convince to come here for the right price. The rest of the pieces I think we can get via the draft. Round 1: Best DE available of Brown, Orakpo, Ayers. Maybin is too much like Erik Flowers for me to think we can take a chance on him. If none of the top three DEs are still on the board at that time, take Brian Cushing or trade down. Round 2: Best LB available. Even if we add Keiaho and June, we need more depth at LB. There is a pretty deep class this year and we should grab a very good talent with our pick. However, if Alex Mack C is still on the board, I think the Bills have to pick him and defer the LB selection to the third round. Round 3: Best TE/OL. We need help at TE and talented depth on the OL. Either option should be available here. I'll spare the commentary on the rest, but I would use picks to solidify the DL and OL further, and maybe take a safety in rounds five or six for depth. Our safeties are actually pretty solid, and will be better with a stronger pass rush. Getting another DE in FA would be a good idea for depth, but we need a first round talent at the position to help Schobel and to bring Ellis along. bflobarry
Me thinks, in order of importance: LG and LOLB: through FA ( Cato June?), or in Waters case hopefully, trade. LDE- #1 draft pick. That's it, as far as new guys that will contibute this year. I think at safety, we use Donte at free and Scott at strong. At TE, Derek Fine looked servicable to me last year. Some say we'll get this and that through the draft, and we will get FUTURE help there. But as far as this year, realistically you can expect immediate help from your #1 pick only. Anything beyond that w/b gravy (such as a tight end, which I think will be our #2 draft priority, and our #2 TE this year, and possible future starter). Thoughts?....
