Rubes Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 With all of the crazy talk about Owens, I'm not sure if this was noticed. I was listening to John Clayton on ESPN Radio today talking about the TO deal, and he was commenting on how it might impact other signings. He then mentioned LeCharles Bentley and how he's trying to make a comeback from his knee problems, and that the Bills were one of the teams talking to him. That was all, just a quick comment. Interesting. I wonder what impact that might have on Hangartner. Move to Guard if Bentley is able to handle the Center duties?
drinkTHEkoolaid Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 i remember a few years ago i was dying to get this guy... does he still have it?
BillsGuyInMalta Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Oh man, I'm not sure about LeCharles. I would hope the Bills would still sign a Guard if they decide to give Bentley a shot. He was definitely talented, at one point THE top center in the NFL, but his injuries were pretty horrific.
marauderswr80 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Id be willing to give the guy a shot at a comeback......
nucci Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Shouldn't cost anything to give him a shot. Like you said, horrible injuries.
BillsGuyInMalta Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 It would make one hell of a comeback story if it worked out. From what I remember, he was a really good guy off the field too, lots of community service work.

Wouldn't hurt to bring him in for a visit. But it would have to be an incentive-heavy deal, and only after a thorough look-see by the medical staff.
rackemrack Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 hell, he might take leauge minimum at this point...
silvermike Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 We've got a very good medical staff. If they say okay, I trust them.
drinkTHEkoolaid Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 We've got a very good medical staff. If they say okay, I trust them. Mccargo thinks so too
freedom2528 Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Id be willing to give the guy a shot at a comeback...... i would, he comes real cheap!
lets_go_bills Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 He had a rough go, but before his knee injury and staph infection he was an all-pro. You have to think he'd be able to regain some of his old form. Depends on how healthy/motivated he is. Worth a look though.
Magox Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Yeah. The ripped-up knee, and then the staph on top of it ... Wouldn't hurt to bring him in for a visit. But it would have to be an incentive-heavy deal, and only after a thorough look-see by the medical staff. bingo
Steely Dan Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 The guy is 29 so if he's healed up he's still fairly young for an OL. It seems like a little to lose a lot to gain type signing.
Bufcomments Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Mccargo thinks so too the Bills have the BEST medical team ASK KEVIN EVERETT they saved his life If the Bills clear Bentley I would give him a contract no doubt GET YOUR POPCORN READY MY BABES

I guess it is old news, but I was just reading about how many Browns players suffered from resistant staph infections. Winslow was one of the latest ones, they have a real problem down there. I hope he can recover his abilities, but if his infection was as bad as indicated you just don't know. Damn shame.
Captain Hindsight Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 It would make one hell of a comeback story if it worked out. From what I remember, he was a really good guy off the field too, lots of community service work. Dont we run those guys out of town?
Spiderweb Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 Site won't accept the link, but over at the "range", there's a thread about LeCharles Bentley who was said to have stated on ESPN News that the Bills are a team he'd like to play for and said recently on Sirrius Radio that he was healed and ready to go. Hummm......... Could be? Nah....not likely....yet......trying to find links.......(ESPN)
