scoring is not hardy Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I go back and forth on Maybin. To me he has the most upside of all the ends, including Johnson. Maybin is an athletic freak with an amazing first step. However, are we in a position to let him develop for a couple years?
BeastMode54 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Big ten players are hardly ever effective at the NFL level. Maybin would be a very bad and risky pick at #11. Which is why our stupid FO will probably end up picking him. Right now, this would be my pecking order at #11... Crabtree WR Raji DT Orakpo DE Brown DE Pettigrew TE Jackson DE Braylon Edwards, Jake Long, Santonio Holmes, Marion Barber, Joe Thomas, Poz, Lamarr Woodley, and those are just a few
1billsfan Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 why would we get a WR? IMO Crabtree is so good he'd be impossible to pass on. I mentioned in another thread about S. Johnson being the perfect fit at #2 WR, but the exception is if Crabtree fell. He's got HOF talent.

Not going to happen.
1billsfan Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Braylon Edwards, Jake Long, Santonio Holmes, Marion Barber, Joe Thomas, Poz, Lamarr Woodley, and those are just a few Poz and Edwards??? Sorry, but both are on the path of being busts. I'll give you that they churn out very good offensive lineman. You got me on that. There are the exceptions as in Woodley and Barber, and Holmes, but for the most part Big Ten players suck in the NFL.

Brilliant to call a MLB, who essentially was a rookie and was part of a defense that went from 31st to 14th. a bust already.

BeastMode54 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 I would hardly call Braylon a bust either. He is 2 years removed from a 1200+ yard and 16 TD season. Last year he had a case of the drops and still had over 800 yards receiving. Not a great year last year, but not a bust. He also had over 800 yards receiving in his second year. If any of our second year players do that, I'll be thrilled
Philly McButterpants Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 If we pick Maybin it will be another long list of dumbass picks.. maybin is no wheres ready for the NFL and the Bills can't afford a project, and that is what Maybin is... Bingo! Can we move along from this? I'll be very disappointed if they select Maybin. He has Eric Flowers written all over him.
stuckincincy Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Bingo! Can we move along from this? I'll be very disappointed if they select Maybin. He has Eric Flowers written all over him. Well, I don't know much about the current crop of Bills' linebackers. Except that I haven't heard the name of one of them mentioned by any media outlet all last season, as doing anything noteworthy of especial mention. "Feature " running backs, receivers, safeties, DE, OT, etc.... I want a feature LB.
1billsfan Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Tom Brady (Michigan) says hi. With 1,696 players in the league there are bound to be a few exceptions. You can count on Maybin being a bust.

WVUFootball29 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Ok, so let me get this straight...No California players, no Big 10 players, All WRs must be 6'4 or taller, No Texas players, DE's must be at least 280lbs and not white, no LBers under 6'2 250, No Ohio State players....any restrictions I missed?
Spanky46 Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 More and more mocks have us picking Maybin at 11. I confess that I haven't seen him play or work out. I know he's sort of a one-year wonder and had something like 22 tackles for a loss this year. Any PSU fans out there who can fill us in on this guy? Is he explosive? A leader? Were his tackles behind the LOS solo efforts, for the most part? Did he win battles to get back there? Or were they more schematic as far as you can tell? Thanks in advance. I watched Path to the Draft last night and Mayock stated that Maybin's only redeemimg factor is speed and he was terrible at the combine. Not only in the forty but also in the linebacker drills.

Not only in the forty but also in the linebacker drills. IF that is the case I'm hoping we don't take him. I'd rather grab a complete player. This team has too many holes as it is, not to mention a disturbing inability to retain young players beyond their rookie contracts and attract free agents. In other words, if Cushing is a more complete LB, I'd take him over Maybin.

Florida State defensive ends I think.

Also, no Oklahoma State players like former Bills' first rounders Phil Dokes, Rueben Gant, or Terry Miller. We can however draft Oklahoma State players in the second round like Thurman Thomas.
