Chargers | Cromartie available?

Mon, 02 Mar 2009 16:51:42 -0800

Kevin Acee, of The San Diego Union-Tribune, reports a league source said the San Diego Chargers will put CB Antonio Cromartie on the trading block if they are able to sign free-agent CB Drayton Florence (Jaguars).

what do you think?...

I don't believe it.

It makes sense, if they sign Florence (way to go Bills FO) they'd have Florence, Jammer, Cason and Cromartie. Thats a pretty loaded CB corps.

If they could trade Cromartie for a first or second rounder, and still have their CBs locked down, why not do it?

it makes perfect sense.

Step 1 -- let a player walk who you thought was replaceable.

Step 2 -- wait until he is released the following year because he didn't play well

Step 3 -- re-sign said player

Step 4 -- trade your best athlete and #1 corner now that you have the replaceable guy back in the fold

genius!!!!!

Firstly it would take us a first or second round pick.

And probably he'll want a new contract.

Hmmmm, first round pick in 2006...Pro Bowl and All Pro in 2007...probably about $8 million per year.

It's a nice fantasy though.

If the Bills were interested in a CB, they should either re-sign Greer, or extend McGee.
