mead107 Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Jeff Immelt purchased 50,000 shares of GE stock today at $8.26 per share . GE closed at $7.60 . He should have waited another day .
Tcali Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I have been saying for over a year- the Dow will hit 3500. That is what the charts tell me, and that is what my gut tells me. At 3,500 I will buy some stocks. Until then most of them are garbage Did your charts come with a box of crayons?
Kelly the Dog Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Maybe it's me, but the only people I've ever heard use this phrase are people who don't ever have any money. I heard today that of the people affected by Obama's tax changes, meaning those who make over 250K a year, 52% of them voted for Obama, and 46% voted for McCain. And for the most part, since he said it over and over and over on the campaign, they knew he was going to raise their taxes and yet they voted for him anyway. In fact, McCain won a greater percentage of people who make between 100K and 200K than Obama did. But Obama won by 6% of all those "rich people". So it seems that people that have a lot of money still didn't really care that the government was going to be taking more of it. In other words, it's only money.

Kelly the Dog Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 "A fool and his money are soon parted." How did they get to be so rich if they were fools?
bills_fan Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 "A fool and his money are soon parted." "should they ever be fortunate enough to get together in the first place."
IDBillzFan Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 So it seems that people that have a lot of money still didn't really care that the government was going to be taking more of it. In other words, it's only money. Are you sure it was 52% of people making over $250K? Because during the campaign, different people...including Biden...kept lowering that number. So maybe that percentage is of people making over $115K, and someone just skewed it. I only ask since the basis of your conclusion above is from something you heard from someone today. "And Iiiiiiiiii will alllllways love youuuuuuu!!!" How did they get to be so rich if they were fools? You think smart, rich people can't also be foolish with their money? Bernie Madoff would probably disagree with you.

Funny thing with the rich is if they're so liberal and care so much for their fellow man why do they have to be forced to trickle their money down? It so easy for libs to be hypocrits.

No, it was over 250K. http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/11/...e-vote-and-why/ Sure they can be foolish with their money, but the majority of the hundreds of thousands or perhaps millions of rich ones voted for the good guy.
DC Tom Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 No, it was over 250K. http://economix.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/11/...e-vote-and-why/ Sure they can be foolish with their money, but the majority of the hundreds of thousands or perhaps millions of rich ones voted for the good guy. Yeah...but you know, they were only the majority by a couple percent. And half of any group of people are, by definition, stupider than the average person in that group. So really, when you say half the people voted for someone...the first thing I'm asking is "Which half did they come from?" It's an ambiguous data point, I'm just sayin'.

I'm fairly sure many of the 52% had no idea he would spend SO much SO fast with pork galore despite his promise to omit pork. And remember; he's your "good guy." To me, he's just a president who is in WAY over his head, is WAY overspending, and is completely on track to do the unthinkable: elevate the legacy of Jimmy Carter.

I love all of his false promises and the people who fell for it and regret it now. Inested of coddling everyone and trying to turn us into a government run socialist nanny state, give the people the ability to better themselves and to foster success. Where's ol' Ronald when we need him.... Here's to a TRUE conservative (not that big government republican crap they are spinning now) resurgance in 2010 and 2012. i better just keep drinking my gin...
IDBillzFan Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Lets borrow our way out! And tax those wealthy bastards and their businesses. They have all the money. But even an idiot like me knows that a funny thing happens when you tax wealthy people and their companies; they pass the cost on to the consumer. But hey...at least 95% of America won't get higher taxes.

Fight the good fight brother...

Just curious of some of our opinions on here.....I had a chance to watch the 60 minutes piece on Bobby Jindal of Louisiana....what do you guys think of him? Is he the GOP answer for '12?

Is he the GOP answer for '12? This is just strictly an opinion, but I don't think anyone really emerges as the GOP choice for '12 until the media turns on Obama. That won't happen any time soon, but it will happen, and when it does, only then will people be ready to hear from the GOP.
