I'll remember this should I ever happen to run across your girlfriend ....

Wow, I can't believe you didn't go with "come across your girlfriend".

How about the original?

The original by Phil Phillips ('59) is fine, the Honeydrippers stay pretty true to it. I'm just partial to Robert Plant.

a couple of my married friends were talking about the 'ultimate' songs to put on a cd to express their feelings towards their wives. They kept coming up with the typical sappy songs....James Blunt, Clapton's sappy love songs....i couldnt come up with any...everything i thought would work actually had fairly depressing lyrics....what would be on your list...if you were to actually think that much about this

For our 25th wedding anniversary, I got a pewter family tree. On one side of a small heart I had it engraved with simply "25". On the other side was engraved "If the sun refused to shine..." and she knew the song.

"Thank You"

If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.

When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.

Kind woman, I give you my all, Kind woman, nothing more.

Little drops of rain whisper of the pain, tears of loves lost in the days gone by.

My love is strong, with you there is no wrong,

together we shall go until we die. My, my, my.

An inspiration is what you are to me, inspiration, look... see.

And so today, my world it smiles, your hand in mine, we walk the miles,

Thanks to you it will be done, for you to me are the only one.

Happiness, no more be sad, happiness....I'm glad.

If the sun refused to shine, I would still be loving you.

When mountains crumble to the sea, there will still be you and me.

Of course, anther song with the same words at the beginning would not have been the same.

"If Six was Nine"

If the sun refused to shine

I don't mind, I don't mind

(Yeah)

If the mountains ah, fell in the sea

Let it be, it ain't me.

(Well, all right)

Got my own world to live through and uh, ha !

And I ain't gonna copy you.

Yeah (sing the song brother...)

Now if uh, six uh, huh, turned out to be nine

Oh I don't mind, I don't mind uh ( Well all right... )

If all the hippies cut off all their hair

Oh I don't care, oh I don't care.

Dig.

'Cause I've got my own world to live through and uh, huh

And I ain't gonna copy you.

White collar conservative flashin' down the street

Pointin' their plastic finger at me, ha !

They're hopin' soon my kind will drop and die but uh

I'm gonna wave my freak flag high, high !

Oww !

Wave on, wave on...

Ah, ha, ha

Fall mountains, just don't fall on me

Go ahead on mister business man, you can't dress like me

Yeah !

Don't nobody know what I'm talkin' about

I've got my own life to live

I'm the one that's gonna die when it's time for me to die

So let me live my life the way I want to

Yeah, sing on brother, play on drummer.
