Kelly the Dog
im surprised no one has mentioned that McKelvin basically negates Parrish's value to our team on the field and puts it almost entirely into trade value. i love having roscoe return punts, but we have a few guys who an do that, and well too. i agree with the mentioned trade value, id like a 3rd, but maybe a 4th. These return specialist guys tend to fall off fast once they start losing a step and younger kids come into the league to play special teams. I guess if we can get a 4th and a 5th next year or something, id be happy. i also wouldnt be terribly upset if they simply cut the gunner making vet minimum either. which is probably the logical answer when we're not trying to outsmart ourselves and the FO. I really don't think you can ask Leodis to be a starting CB and KR and PR. I don't think anyone in the league does that. Maybe there is one but I can't think of him right now. It would take too much toll on his body, and his play at CB would suffer. Maybe if you made him PR instead of KR, but he's pretty much the best KR in the league right now. Kelly covered this, pretty well. You really can't ask a starting (even nickel) CB to return kicks and punts, full time, too. And, as has been noted, the injury risk is too great, and the impact too severe. Parrish hasn't been valuable in the passing game, but that doesn't mean he can't be. Not having to play as many downs, could actually help his overall impact, IMO.
DrDawkinstein
ok then, whatever CB we draft in the first round will have return skills, im sure. they always do. he can do it.
Ramius
Very true. That said, Roscoe may have more value to another team than he does to the Bills, even though he is pretty valuable here, IMO. First, if we get Coles, Roscoe becomes the #4 WR. Other teams would be able to get more production out of him than we will (other teams would anyway but that's another story). A lot of teams need a dynamic PR specialist and Roscoe is the best all-time. But Fred Jackson and Leodis have already proven they're pretty damn good in reserve. I could easily see the Bills use Fred as the main PR guy but put Leodis back there once or twice a game, or late in the game when you needed a gamebreaker (only said because I don't think you could ask him to be a starting CB and full-time KR and full-time PR). I don't want us to get rid of Roscoe either, but if we could get a starter for him, I would strongly consider that. Like from a team with an abundance of DTs or SSs or TEs or LBs... There are few players i wouldn't trade for the right price. But, to the me, it only makes sense to trade roscoe if we are getting a solid starter of at least a 2nd round pick in return. I wouldn't trade Roscoe for less that that, as it would hurt us moreso than keeping him.

nucci
Evans, Coles, Reed, Parrish, Hardy, Johnson, and Jenkins I think we should trade Parrish for a TE like Daniels and give them a draft pick to. What do you all think Wonder what their answer will be once they stop laughing?

I said this in another thread but The Chiefs have no PR or KR guy and I have always thought that Roscoe could be better utilized by other teams as a WR. Pioli and Cassel could have their version of Wes Welker.
billsfreak
James Hardy will probably start out the season on the PUP list, if he plays at all. If we do have to get rid of a receiver, I would prefer it be Jenkins but would probably be Josh Reed that would depart.

davefan66
If we sign Coles, we'll probably trade one of our WRs. Unless the fax machine eats the paperwork....
