foamcups Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/real_scou..._from_st._louis Jason Brown caves, takes money from St. Louis Friday, February 27, 2009 Posted By Jim Ryan 9:08 PM Earlier in the day, we reported that center/guard Jason Brown had a little problem. He was holding a significant offer from the Rams, in the range of $7 million per year, but he didn't want to play for the Rams. Unfortunately, no one else was offering Brown the kind of money that the Rams put on the table. In the end, Brown apparently opted for the money. According to Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald, Brown has agreed to terms with the Rams. As we'd heard it, Brown was hoping for the Ravens to match the St. Louis offer. But the Ravens never were inclined to do so. at least he isn't in miami...
FluffHead Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 If he doesn't want to play for the Rams, it is probably because they suck. Well, we suck too, so it still doesn't look good for us.
billnutinphoenix Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 http://www.sportingnews.com/blog/real_scou...denly_in_a_bind Jason Brown Suddenly in a Bind Friday, February 27, 2009 Posted By Mike Florio 4:10 PM The good news for center/guard Jason Brown is that the St. Louis Rams are willing to pay him $7 million per year. The bad news for center/guard Jason Brown is that no one else is. A league source tells ProFootballTalk.com that Brown doesn't want to play for the Rams, and thus wants someone/anyone to step up and match the offer St. Louis has made to him. Per the source, Brown was hoping that the Ravens would match the number that the Rams put on the table. But the Ravens haven't, and apparently won't. Other teams are interested in Brown, but not at the same level that Rams have demonstrated. So Brown is in a bind. Does he take the money from a team for which he doesn't want to play? Or does he take less from someone else? possibly good news... good news for who?...the dolphins...
H2o Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I wonder what everyone else is talking about paying him? Money isn't everything though. Hey Jason, head on over to OBD for $5.5 million a season.
lets_go_bills Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 That's awesome. He wants to get paid, but isn't necessarily willing to play for a loser in order to get the max money. lol. $7M/year is a lot for a C.
turftoe Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I wonder how many FA come to Buffalo with the intention of getting an offer that they take to another club. I bet Fred Taylor only wanted an offer that he could take to the Pats.

Steely Dan Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Just match it Buffalo, please! IMO, $7 million a year isn't too much for 3-4 specialist. He's young and improving and excels at playing against the majority of Bills opponents defensive schemes.

Offer him 6 year $43 Million If they could pay Dockery $7 Million a year, two years ago, and I would have to say that Jason Brown is regarded in higher esteem than what Dockery was when he was a FA, because of what I remember Dockery was regarded the third best guard in FA that year. Brown is considered the top center and that is with Birk and Saturday in that group. If they don't make a strong push for Jason Brown, it just wouldn't make any sense to me at all. He seems like a perfect fit.
Truth Machine Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 But I thought someone offered him 8.5?
Magox Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 But I thought someone offered him 8.5? probably a rumor from his agent

SWVABillsFan Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Give the guy some money, put him at LG, then get Buffalo's next top center in Alex Mack, re-sign Jason Peters and solidfy this offense for years to come. Sign em' while we have the money.
vincec Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 I wish I was in that bind... My thoughts exactly.

Pete Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 Buffalo should pay it! WTF? Why the hell are we clearing cap room if we aren't going to use it? We are way too !@#$ing complacent!
