Patriots beat writer Mike Reiss wonders if Mike Vrabel's trade could be part of a larger deal including Matt Cassel.

Now that would be a doozy. Reiss is one of the most well-respected beat writers in the country, and is usually very cautious to publish anything resembling speculation. He rightly points out that we have no idea what the compensation in the Vrabel trade is.

Because of the Pioli connection, KC is the most logical landing spot for Cassel so who knows.

And NE* winds up getting a ton of picks. Sometimes I wonder if these ex-Pats* people still work for the team even after they leave. "Scott, you go get that GM job, we'll trade our over-the-hill LB and barely-talented backup QB to you for all your draft picks. Serve your masters well, young Pioli."

Shefter said before that after the Vrabel trade there were likely to be more trades between the Chiefs and Pats*, and indicated it would be Cassel.

If Pioli trades for Cassel, much less gives up a high pick or a player like Gonzalez, he'll be out of KC within 3 years.
