26CornerBlitz Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 He'll probably go to the Dolphins to reunite with his boy Pennington and they definitely need receiver help!
BuffaloPride Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 We don't need another undersized receiver, especially one whos better days are behind him. I'll continue to hold on to the hope that we trade for Boldin.
vincec Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Maybe at the right price, but spending lots of $ on a receiver is a waste of money. Maybe if he was the final piece of the puzzle or something...
Bill from NYC Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 We don't need another undersized receiver, especially one whos better days are behind him. I'll continue to hold on to the hope that we trade for Boldin. He plays way bigger than he actually is BP. The guy is very strong.
Ramius Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I'd take Coles in a heartbeat as #2. Set him up with a 3-4 year deal, which gives him 1-2 years to start opposite Evans and let Johnson and Hardy develop. It also allows Reed to work out of the slot where's the most effective.
LabattBlue Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 The obvious place for Coles is Miami, reunited with Pennington. First thing that came to my mind. He can walk into Miami and become the #1 guy instantly.
marauderswr80 Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 ESPN just reported he restructured his deal........
nucci Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 COLES IS AN UPGRADE. HE WILL BRING MUCH MORE STABILITY TO THE OFFENSE THAN A ROOKIE OR ANY RECEIVER BESIDES HOUSH AND BOLDIN. BRING HIM IN You don't have to yell.
Steely Dan Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I wouldn't cut any of the current Bills receivers to make room for him.
H2o Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 ON FURTHER REVIEW, COLES WALKED AWAY FROM HIS $6 MILLIONPosted by Mike Florio on February 25, 2009, 5:55 p.m. OK, now this is getting weird. Despite a report in the New York Daily News that the guaranteed $6 million in base salary that receiver Laveranues Coles is due to earn from the Jets will be reduced by whatever he earns elsewhere, Dave Hutchinson of the Newark Star-Ledger has clarified for us that Coles has walked away from the guaranteed payment. So, in other words, Coles gave up $6 million guaranteed in search of even more. So, in other words, the Jets owe him nothing. There’s a fine line between bravery and stupidity. As to where Coles falls on this specific issue, we’ll all have to wait and see. UPDATE: Rich Cimini of the Daily News has since updated his item to point out that, indeed, Coles left $6 million on the table http://www.profootballtalk.com/category/rumor-mill/
The Dean Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I'd say Coles and a Center on FA and Pettigrew in RD#1 and the offense is set. There is the whole coaching thing...but I understand your point.
NY Nole Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 If Coles turned down $6 million from the Jets, I'd say there is zero chance he will be a Buffalo Bill. I don't see the Bills paying more than that for a 32 yr-old #2 receiver who has 1-2 more good years. Although I do think he would be an upgrade.
Armchair GM Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 No, he sucks good post...now go kick yourself in the nutts and never write another one! Kidding! But seriously, this is a semi serious discussion board, at least back yourself up...
Lv-Bills Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I wouldn't cut any of the current Bills receivers to make room for him. You've gotta be kidding me.
