K-Gun10
Adam Schefter Looking for cap room, Texans will release DE Weaver Posted: Adam Schefter | Adam Schefter | Tags: Anthony Weaver, Baltimore Ravens, Houston Texans, New York Jets As the Friday beginning of the new league year creeps closer, teams are creating more and more salary-cap room. Just days after cutting RB Ahman Green and LB Morlon Greenwood, the Texans will release DE Anthony Weaver on Tuesday. His $6.2 million base salary will come off the Texans’ salary cap, but they still must deal with $5.4 million in acceleration on his contract — a total savings of $800,000. Once Weaver is released, it will not be long before he finds another job. Jets coach Rex Ryan coached Weaver in Baltimore and could sign him for New York, or the Ravens always could try to bring him back.
San Jose Bills Fan
Anthony Weaver: Comment: He has become a valuable player for the Texans because he plays defensive end and defensive tackle. He looks more at home on the outside, but he does not really have premier pass-rush skills. He has good initial quickness and shows the ability to get upfield off the edge. The problem is that he struggles to finish the play as a pass-rusher. He gets past the edge of pass blockers, but often lets them recover and get back even with him. He has good hand use to keep blockers off his body, but does not do a great job of controlling their pads. He is active, reads blocks well and does a good job of locating the level of the ball. He is not great at holding his ground when at the point of attack, but manages to gain a stalemate against most single blocks. While he does a lot of things pretty well, Weaver does not really stand out in any one area.

CFLstyle
Would be an upgrade over Kaptain Kelsay, but will probably be too expensive.

Chandler#81
Pass. That description fits all our DE's -with the exception of a healthy Schobel. Texans have something brewin' on their DL, but I'm not interested in their castoffs.
