Another viable option IMO is Michael Clayton. He is healthy once again, & the Bucs #1 receivers Galloway & Bryant last year had NO PROBLEM getting open with him on the other side. He also made some timely catches & is a GREAT down field blocker.
Buftex
Out of Evans, Reed, Parrish, Johnson, Hardy and Jenkins (STer) who would you cut for a vet? I wouldn't cut any of them. You really don't think the Bills could use some help at this position? I guess I am out of touch. Every time I come to the board lately, and I feel like I just spent the whole last football season watching a different team than a lot of the folks here. I think we have a bunch of good second tier guys, behind Evans, but nobody who is really helping this offense get off the schneid. Josh Reed is a good possesion receiver, Hardy is likely to miss significant time next season. Johnson has shown some promise, but is still a long way from proven. Roscoe has only proven that he is fast as sh--, but he can't catch the ball with any consistency. I love the idea of Roscoe Parrish, but as part of our offense, he is not very effective, or good? You wouldn't cut Jenkins, in favor of anyone on that free agent list? The Bills routinely let their special teamers walk, and seem to be able to find adequate replacements. I think losing Jenkins would hurt the Bills much less, than, say, picking up someone like Hank Basket, would help. When the Bills drafted Hardy last season, much was made, by the head coach himself, that the teams success, in large part was going to rest on a few factors, and the play of Hardy was one of them. I am not writing off Hardy, by any means (though I would feel better about him if he hadn't gotten this injury), but it is obvious that the Bills themselves realize that their receiving core is lacking. Little happened in 2008, IMO, to dispel that notion. I am not going to say it should be the top priority (although the owner is on record of being less than thrilled with the offensive talent on the team), but to say the Bills are "fine" at WR is a little crazy, I think... a great receiving tight end would be a tremendous addition, but those guys are even harder to find. Besides, when, in the last decade, have the Bills ever been able to make the tight end a big part of the passing game?
thewildrabbit
C'mon guys, when Josh Reed was out with an injury the passing game completely tanked, remember ? Even with a healthy Reed in the slot Bills just don't have a dominate receiver opposite Lee Evans yet. Hardy or Johnson may well develop into that second guy but I won't hold my breath waiting for either one to get the job done. Another player out there the Bills could go after would be Q, Anquan Boldin of Ariz From ESPN site:http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4512 News: Boldin's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, is reportedly soliciting trade proposals for Boldin without the Cardinals' consent, according to the Cardinals' official site. Spin: There are three primary outcomes for Boldin's ongoing contract drama. One, albeit unlikely, is that Boldin and the Cardinals will agree on a restructured contract. The other two options are for Boldin and the Cardinals to coexist for the two remaining years on his contract or for Boldin to be traded. Most of the leverage lies with the Cardinals and they are publicly saying that they want to keep Boldin. Of course, a trade can't be ruled out, especially if Boldin and Rosenhaus continue to cause problems. I know a ton of you guys are clamoring for a DE,LB but the sad fact is the offense was worse stat wise then the defense Bills were 25th on total yards per game,22nd in passing 14th in rushing 23rd in scoring 14th on defense, 13th against the pass,22nd against the run. I'd move Hardy to the practice squad for a year. It would give him some time to develop some real skill in the position as opposed to relying on his physical ability, which we didn't see too much of in year one. Furthermore, he wouldn't rush himself back and potentially make a bad situation worse.

dickie do-right
The Bills really, really, for real need a top notch WR opposite Lee Evans in my opinion. This would do a few things right away. 1. Take all the double and triple coverage off Lee. 2. Help Derek Fine who I think will be a very good TE (like Clark-Cooley). 3. Allow us to take care of 2 positions WR - TE. 4. Allow us than to concentrate on DE/DL/LB help. So with the Bills 1st round pick the 11th overall in the 2009 NFL Draft the Bills select Jeremy Maclin - University of Missouri - MIZZOU Height / Weight: 6-1 / 200 2008 STATS RECEPTIONS - YARDS - TOUCHDOWNS 102 1,260 13 CAREER STATS RECEPTIONS - YDS -TOUCHDOWNS 182 2,315 22 I totally understand we need help at DE/DL/LB but can we pass him up ?
