BeastMode54
could he be an answer for us at OLB. He still gets over 100 tackles a year and he would fill for us as well.

San Jose Bills Fan
It would probably be best to post this sort of thing early in the thread. BUFFALOTONE
For all intensive purposes the guy is still serviceable. I would have not prob adding vet leadership to a D that sorely lacks it.
San Jose Bills Fan
Somethings got to be wrong. Whats was his cap #??? According to the two references I go to it looks like his 2009 compensation is $5-5.7 million. He's 33 years old.
LabattBlue
http://www.ajc.com/blogs/content/shared-bl...know_i_can.html "...But Brooking is an unrestricted free agent and general manager Thomas Dimitroff wants to rebuild the defense. He has not closed the door to his return, but it would be at a significantly reduced price - and even then it depends on who else could be acquired in free agency." He wasn't released and does not have a big cap number. He is a UFA.

I guess I would trust the AJC beat writer on this one.
H2o
He'd be an upgrade over Ellison, DiGeorgio, and whatever else we've been throwing out there don't you think?

Joe Miner
I'd hate to have an experienced Pro Bowl LB giving advice to some of the younger LB's on the team Would I rather have Dansby? Hell yeah, but I would have a problem seeing what Brooking had left in the tank. Just don't give him a retarded contract. Something loaded with incentives so he can prove the Falcons were wrong to let him go.

BeastMode54
from rotoworld: The Falcons are expected to release WLB Keith Brooking before February 23, when he is due a $1 million roster bonus. We've actually already seen him listed as a UFA in one location. Brooking's release will clear cap room, but leave Atlanta with holes at both outside linebacker positions. SLBs Michael Boley and Coy Wire are also free agents

BillsFan74
At 33 how much gas is left in the tank? If he is a year or two stop gap maybe, but he would have to come cheap.
San Jose Bills Fan
I'm not against bringing Brooking in. But I would remind everyone to remember everything we've heard the Bills say about what they want from their linebackers. What style of defense do we have and is Brooking compatible with that? lets_go_bills
I wouldn't mind seeing him in Bills blue. He's still servicable and is a team player. He also has played both OLB and ILB, so you have to like that versatility.
atlbillsfan1975
As a person who lives in Atlanta and watched the Falcons over the years. Especially when they would go on playoff runs, and the Bills would frustrate me so much, i would flip around on the T.V. Brooking has always been a solid player. Never thought he was a great player. Yes he made a lot of tackles, but where you make a tackle on the field to me is much more important. A linebacker making a tackle 4-6 yds down the field isn't that special. He was solid but not great. And he single handedly blew the biggest play of the year in the playoffs. It was 3-18 (i think) in the 4th with like 2:00 mins left. Brooking bites on the play action and lets the TE get free behind him. Cards pick up the first down game over. If you think for one second he is better talent wise then anything the Bills have you are wrong. Great guy, team leader type, but his skills are gone. He was going to make way to much money, and Dimitrof is not the kind of GM to keep a guy around because of what he did in the past. See Algie Crumpler and Warrick Dunn. Another case of 'i know that name lets sign him.'
