Not sure what a car czar can do. There is and has been overcapacity in the industry in NA for some time now. GM does have a growing presence in China so this may actually help save them but from a NA standpoint they are likely to be a tiny shell of their former selves. Chrysler is already essentially "dead company walking."
Nanker
Whomever it is, they're undoubtedly going to be extremely busy come June when 95% of Omericans get their $13 weekly pay boost. Those cars will be flying off the lots! Then again, some people will simply squander their windfall on five dollar foot longs. It's all about jobs, and we've just been jobbed. KD in CA
Can someone explain to me why they needed to give these multi billion dollar companies two months to put together a long term plan? Our company does $12MM in revenues and we manage to have one. Friggin unreal.
ExiledInIllinois
Doensn't appointing a "Czar" violate Article I Section IX of the Constitution? I take you are talking about this: No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince or foreign State. ?? Title of Nobility has to do with birth right. It is not a Title of Nobility to appoint a "Czar" as long as that "Czar" doesn't pass on hers/his title to his/her family. So, the way I read it, "Czar" is just a title (unless it has been passed down or will be passed down)... It has nothing to do with nobility the way they are using it. A title of nobility indicated that status, where a person was a king, queen, prince, princess, count, countess, duke, duchess, baron, or baroness; these titles were granted by the monarch at some point in the family history and passed from parent to child. Joe Miner
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29231797/ What the hell did we need a Czar for anyway? Just give 'em the extra 7 billion before they even present their plan. That'll show 'em we're serious. Oh, and for those that didn't read the news yesterday, apparently over the weekend, we "changed" our minds on the car czar, and are now going with a committee. Who will be appointed any time now...
