I have a couple questions for anyone living down in the area or actually it might be for anyone out of town. I'd really appreciate the help.

1. How hard is it to get MSG and SNY network down there? I'm a huge Mets fan and a huge Sabres fan. Do I have to get the MLB and NHL packages to get just those two channels? If so, do I have to request the Sabres feed from MSG or do I have to just get the package? I'd assume that I need the NFL Sunday ticket to get the Bills game but I believe I saw a Bills Backers bar down there that I'm willing to consider.

2. I have a family which includes a soon to be 3 year old daughter. Are there any specific areas that I should try to stay away from? I've done some reading but every thing I've read says the suburban areas around the golf courses are fantastic. Anyone have a different perspective or area I should shy away from?

3. I'm a frisbee golfer. Anyone else down there play or have any information on local courses? I like to hike and I love to mountain bike. Any inside knowledge about the nice places to go?

Thanks in advance.

I used to live there for 4 months. Nice place. The worst area is right over the bridge on the west side where 501 hits N Kings Hwy. Stay far away. Everything off Kings Hwy is pretty stellar once you go past the mall heading to N Myrtle. The golf courses as you mention are great areas to live with big upside in future appreciation. That area is growing economically and I haven't lived there since 95' but I went back in 2006 and it grew up even more. The area has huge upside, although the place is still a deadzone from Oct to March.

Also, for great good go to the Sea Captain's on Ocean Highway. The food is extremely good.

Do you have a job or are you going to be a beach bum ?

Yeah, that's why I'm going. I'd never leave Buffalo unless it became so bad that I had to. Well, I sort of feel like that day has come. I'm a craps dealer going to work on one of the 20 million dollar yachts in North Myrtle. The Casino shift manager is from Oswego and seems to be a pretty nice guy. He's assured me there is no chance of layoffs and that I'll be making some good money. I'm excited.

My fiance is from there, and a nice alternative to Myrtle & North Myrtle is Murrells Inlet & Pawleys Island. Since you're working in North Myrtle, the trip would be longer, but housing is less and there really aren't alot of bad places in either.

Not sure if you have kids, but the public schools in North Myrtle & Murrells Inlet are the place to put them. I'm sure there are some nice private schools in the area too, but her niece goes to Murrells Inlet and it's very nice. Surf Side Beach is another small town that is nice, and closer to Myrtle.

The beaches in both places are great. Not alot of people, and beautiful sand dunes with wide beaches.

Really, there aren't alot of bad places other than downtown Myrtle, which is all tourists and not so nice neighborhoods.

Charleston's only 1 1/2 hrs away and is an awesome historic city. Totally different than any of the Eastern cities up here.

There are tons of bike trails along the beach (I rode one in Murrells Inlet over Christmas).

As far as sports, I'm not sure. Her dad is a Cleveland Browns fan and he has the NFL ticket. He actually lives near Georgetown, which is south of Myrtle. That is another nice day trip to make.

There are tons of places to explore and fish down there, too. Piers, charters, etc. Have fun! I would suggest taking up some sort of beach activity that youve never done before and take advantage of the new scenery.

Pawleys Island is very nice. Have spent many days lounging on the beach there. If I was going to move there I would pick somewhere close between Murrells Inlet and Pawleys.

Yeah, she used to live in Pawleys when she lived down there after college. Awesome place with all kinds of unique stores and shops. Her sister now lives in Murrells Inlet and loves it.

He did say that he was going to be working on a posh yacht type vessel. They probably want dealers with the greatest ability and the best interpersonal skills (something you wouldn't know... :wallbash: ) What I take from what he said, it is not like he will be working at the Horseshoe casino in Hammond, Indiana where your clientele is Willy from Gary.
