I want to buy a used bike, and I'm looking at a Trek on craigslist.

This would be my first bike, as I'm looking to do something other than running and working out in the gym like I do now. I'll probably be using it mainly on city streets or some of the paved trails here in Philly, and I'm not looking for anything real expensive or fancy. I'm just looking to make sure this early 90's model is worth the price. The guy who is selling it was real knowledgeable and had a ton of bikes in his garage. I guess this could be a good thing or a bad thing.

I'm pretty clueless when it comes to bikes, but does anyone on here know if this would be worth it? I went and checked it out and rode it, and it rides nice, but the gears slip a bit after I shift.

Any help is much appreciated.

I think that is a good price . beats spending $1500 and finding out you don't want to get in to riding . Once they have shifted do they slip ? or only when you are shifting ?

Well, I think it was after I shifted, but I'm not real familiar with how it works. It didn't really affect my ride, but just something I noticed.

Also, thanks for the PM, I'll check it out.
