Cookiemonster
Vince Wilfork, Rodney Harrison, Hines Ward , Brian Dawkins? … who gets your vote? Why? And would you want him on the Bills? As for me, I would say Hines Ward plays on the thin edge of being dirty. I do not think he takes illegal shots at people but he plays hard and is not afraid to hit anyone. Where he is marginally dirty in my mind is that he provokes people and he may hit players (cleanly) at times when he really does not need to. All this said, I like the way the guy plays and I would want him on the Bills. Yeah, I have to Go with Hines, and the reason is as you stated above in bold, but after what I saw James Harrison, who is a stud of a ballplayer, do to the holder for the Cardinals in the SB, he is quickly rising up on my list, that was totally uncalled for. BuffaloBill
Good post. Even if it's just the money angle, Goodell has to realize that when players go down and out that way, it cheapens the value of product the NFL is selling. Teams falter, folks don't tune in which eventually affects the advertising rates they can command, gate is hurt, concessions cuts go down when sold-out stadiums have less attendance, and so on. I hear what you are saying but at times I wonder if the league goes too far now. This crap of getting a penalty (discretionary one at that) for hitting QB's nano seconds after the ball leaves their hands just kills me. It is hard to believe that some 280 - 310 pound guy is supposed to stop his momentum and miss the QB. I understand QB's are the glamor boys and all and many do get hurt over the course of the season but I believe if you asked Keith Rivers if he takes kindly to Wards seemingly clean hit I would guess not. Hard to say where the line is but I do not want to watch two handed touch either.

The Dean
London Fletcher is the king of the late hit. Um...what? Does Fletch get a log of late hit flags? I don't recall that, at all.
BuffaloBill
Um...what? Does Fletch get a log of late hit flags? I don't recall that, at all. He meant to say he hits late in the play because when London played for the Bills nobody hit the runner early in the play.

Ah, yes...100+ meaningless tackles every year. Right.
bschmoove
Jon Runyan is constantly throwing people onto the pile after the whistle blows and after the play is dead he himself hits a d-lineman on his back. Dirty? Yes. Would I like it if the Bills took him even though he is on the downside? Hell yes!
