Where is the outrage that 2+ million people have been without food, water, esentials of life, dozens dying freezing, and the federal government has done nothing for nearly a week. meanwhile it gets only worse. The governer has been asking the Messiah to declare a disater area, but the Messiah not only can't find time to go see these poor souls, he doesn't see fit to send his FEMA director.

It's Kentucky. Who cares about Kentucky?

Unless it's in a big city, it doesn't count.

Just ask all the Katrina victims in Mississippi...hell, in the parishes surrounding New Orleans, for that matter.

Louisville is nearly double the size of NOLO.

Well, they didn't vote for him, so he doesn't give a sh**.

We didn't get it quite as bad, but I live in an area that got hit pretty hard by the same storm. As of yesterday, there were still close to 150, 000 people in Arkansas and Missouri without electricity, which is probably about a third of the population of the affected areas. We lost power for five days and we were lucky. The electric companies are saying it'll be anywhere from four to six WEEKS before power is restored in the outlying counties. Water supplies were interrupted in many of the smaller municipalities. Food and gas? LOL. Right. Again, we were lucky here...the stores, gas stations and factories opened within three days. The only thing we had to put up with were two hour gas lines. That's definitely not the case in many towns around here.

FEMA, meanwhile, has been a complete no-show as far as I know. Not that I'm surprised.

"Beshear [Gov of KY] asked Obama for a disaster declaration to free up federal assistance Thursday, two days after the storm hit, and Obama issued it hours later. Trucks loaded with supplies began arriving at a staging area at Fort Campbell, Ky., on Friday morning, said Mary Hudak, a spokeswoman for the Federal Emergency Management Agency."

You can't even get a service tech to call you back within a few hours. And Friday is the day after Thursday. So the FEMA response was pretty good.

The National Guard was on the ground almost immediately. Whether the Gov waited too long to assess the problem and reach out for aid, only he can say.

FEMA Under Scrutiny for Ice Storm Response in Kentucky

"We haven't seen FEMA. They haven't been here,'' said Jaime Green, a spokeswoman for the emergency operations center in Lyon County, about 95 miles northwest of Nashville, Tenn.

The Kentucky disaster will be closely watched, said Richard Sylves, professor of political science at the University of Delaware, particularly because Obama hasn't yet named the top FEMA officials, many of whom must go through Senate confirmation.

Brocton Oglesby, director of emergency management in Hopkins County, said he has seen virtually no contribution from FEMA in the county, where more than half of the 27,000 homes remained without electricity.

Two people haven't seen FEMA. And are there no FEMA officials left from Bush's era? What do they do, all immediately pack up and leave the building empty with the new administration?

Obama has been in office 16 days. If he'd announced that he was going to focus on staffing FEMA becuase it was more important that the economy, what would your reaction be?

I seem to remember everyone doggin New Orleans because until the local people ask for help, the feds can't intercede.

Nice try.

Biden and his evil wather machine knew it was going to be that bad. the messiah should have stationed troops and named his fema replacements in advance so they could have been on the Kentucky border waiting to go in. Where is the huge sealift to get food, supplies, gas, bourbon into and out of the state.

First time I've seen those specific arguments. And Cheney took his death-ray, he didn't leave it for Biden.
