Forget about the "professional" assessments of the OL experts on TSW.

No one knows for sure how Peters would do on another team. If someone claims they do simply laugh and ignore this post.

The simple fact is this:

Peters is acting like a child in dealing with the Bills.

However, if upon being traded if he happens to give up on childish things (this may happen and it may not so who cares what us dimestore psychologists predict) and becomes the anchor of his new OL for years to come.

Whoever engineers the trade for the Bills will simply go down in football history as the idiot who traded away a franchise LT with two Pro Bowls to his credit (regardless of whether they were deserved or not) for a 1st, less or even if it is slightly more this GM will be known as the guy who got smoked by some other GM.

The downside (whether it actually happens or not, one would have to argue that these events which no one can predict will not happen.

Some folks may be so tired of what they see as Peters antics they would simply be happy to see him gone for a couple of draft picks.

This is easy for a fan to do, but the down side risk is too high unless the GM has tremendous cojones.

Nobody I have seen is accusing Brandon or any of the Bills braintrust of demonstrating this.

If someone wants to make a convincing argument that the Bills will trade Peters they do not have to try to prove something about him as a player. Instead they would need to argue effectively that the Bills have the grombas to make this move.

Most likely, a trading of Peters means Buffalo receives draft picks in return. For a moribund franchise that hasn't been to the playoffs since 99, having more picks is not going to help this season. As I said in another thread, it's perpetual rebuilding.

On principle, the Bills have negotiated before with a player who had more than 2 seasons remaining on their deal. Aaron Schobel even skipped time in the offseason two years ago to prove he was serious. The front office responded by opening negotiations, so Schobel returned for OTA's. Why should Peters' situation be different. If anything, I'd say there's a double standard there, especially considering both players were Pro Bowlers (earned or not) and were/are recognized as the best on their line. I think it's the fact they don't want to pay him, because his contract would be the team's largest.

Trading Peters is Buffalo's response to solving a problem by getting rid of it. It's a wimp move, and the benefits won't show up until at least 2-3 seasons down the road if at all. In the meantime, they're repeating a move made familiar these past few seasons. Allow guys to leave in UFA and trade, then use high picks to replace them. It's why they've been on a treadmill these past 9 seasons.

The downside is we won't have a LT.

who plays at a pro bowl level and is entering his prime.

This trade talk is beyond retarded. Please tell me the last time a team traded a pro bowl LT and got better? Just pay the man and have him ready for OTAs.

There isn't an upside to trading peters, so by default there is nothing but downside.

Have you thought about the fact that he is getting advice, arguably bad advice, from his agent? How do you figure he is childish? During the season you did not hear him complaining or acting stupid, did you?

The guy held out, so what? It is a tactic used frequently in the NFL. The Bills did a good PR job and made him look like the fool but the truth of the matter is that the Bills were cheap when it came to his contract. They are paying him as a mid to upper level right tackle not an elite left tackle.

Why is it that people like you dismiss this out of hand? Imagine you got a serious promotion at work. You do your job, win accolades for what you do but your boss goes on for over a year and does not give you a raise. What are you going to do? Just say "Oh well." If you do then you are the child. The Bills are equally if not more responsible in this situation.

If you want a child on your team or see what it would be like read up on the Cowboys. T.O. and Pacman will give you plenty of material.

It's almost unanimous that whoever gets the best player in a trade, in any sport, ends up winning that trade. It would be DUMB to move cos a few fans are ticked off at him.

A few fans? Peters held out and hurt this team, then gave up many sacks, had many penalties and is most certainly going to hold out again. Repeat same cycle next season.

The offensive line played better when Peters was not there. Langston Walker held his own at LT and could most certainly start at that position next year.

If the Bills were offered two 1st round picks they would be retarded to not take it.

So what?!?!!!???

Are you kidding me?

Was it not apparent that his holdout hurt this team? He was fat, slow and penalized often, gave up numerous sacks which often resulted in fumbles or 3 and outs. The O line was better without him, he flat out sucked this season.

He did not play at a pro bowl level this year by any means at all.

Wasn't there also an incident where he stopped halfway into the tunnel to argue with some fans, that is most certainly childish and shoudl not be tolerated on a team of "character" players.

Over the entire 16 game season, Chambers or Walker would break down trying to contain outside speed rushers by themselves. Neither have the physical attributes to contain DE's and resemble turnstiles when it matters most.

Walker has enough issues handling the RT spot and oftentimes requires TE help to block his man. He lacks the lateral agility to get out an block on running plays outside the tackle box. Chambers is a backup at best, and couldn't play RG when Butler went down.

The guy is being made into a scapegoat. As for the "fat and slow" even the Bills said he came back in excellent shape. Not game shape but you can't get that way unless you play. As for "flat out sucking" I guess we are to ignore the players and coaches who say otherwise.

The guy plays on an Island so yes anytime he makes a mistake it sticks out. Keep in mind he goes up against the other team's best pass rusher on nearly every play and the Bills do not provide him assistance with a TE or back. For the idiots who want Chambers as the answer this is exactly what will have to happen to make him effective.

And yes, so what, he held out. The Bills could have stepped up also. I faill to see why people do not recognize the fact that the Bills are equally culpable in the situation. The Bills were cheap. They were well under the cap and could have easily redone his deal or at least started working on it. They choose to play hardball with the guy.

Highly unlikely.
