And Richard Holbrooke, the broker of the Dayton Peace Accords that ended the conflict in Bosnia, will be special envoy to the Afganistan/Pakistan region. Glad to see that the lessons of the Bosnian conflict have taken such a colorful interpretation. That sad saga stands as a symbol to the impotence of the UN and the EU, the ineffectualness of diplomacy when one party is still willing to fight, and that strength is ultimately the guaranteer of peace.
