Yeah Mr. Lynch who is just a redo of Travis Henry minus the fumbles. Runs real hard in a straight line. No cut, no blocking ability, no catching ability. But hey he gives you 100% as long as it's a straight line.

Thanks, but I'll take a pack of used gum and a second string Wr in trade for him.

I understand Lynch isn't the premier back everyone was expecting him to be but there are many things the guy does that other teams would love to have. Besides running hard as you mention, he makes plays when there aren't any to be made.

I can't count the number of times he broke tackles for a critical first down in certain games. Or when he pushed a pile for just a few extra yards. I think his blocking has improved. His catching ability has been a disappointment since arriving.

A redo of Travis Henry minus the fumbles, the kids, and the drug problems isn't such a bad thing just as long as we have a complimentary back like Fred Jackson who does some of the other things that Lynch doesn't.

I respect your opinion but I think he has more value that a pack of used gum and second string receiver.

You remind me of the Indians trading Manhattan Island. But go ahead, make the trade. Glad you're not my GM.

Lynch is better than Jones!

I love Marshawn, but I think some of us here are really underestimating how good Jones really is. He is sort of a poor man's Brian Westbrook. I gurantee you, there are lots of Bears fans in Chicago wishing the Bears had realized this....

I thought Lynch improved at the end of the season and expect big things next year. Hopefully, he corrects his habit of dropping swing passes with green grass in front of him. As for his rushing yards, remember DJ limited his touches some games by "design". Remember the game he had one carry in the fourth when he was averaging 9 yards a pop.

Well, let's guess ourselves......

QB - No

RB - Yes

WR - No

TE - No

OL - No

DL - No

LB - No

CB - Yes

S - No

ST - Yes

So, nahhhh, we don't have the best talent in the division. And, you are right, we also don't have the best coaching in the division. Not a good combo, IMO.

I couldnt have said it any better myself.Right on.

So, what's the argument?

Well, there's no argument.... look at the data. Jones finished 5th in rushing, Lynch 13th. Jones average per carry was almost a half yard more than Lynch. Jones had 5 more TDs than did Lynch.

an added note... Ronnie Brown ranked 19th, and had more TDs than Lynch and a higher per carry average.

So, yeah... Jones is the man in the division. End of story.

Oh... and the Bills are not the 2009 version of the Arizona Cardinals. You drink that koolaid and you enable the Bills continuance of delivering a substandard product on the field.

Obviously 2008 stats = gosphel and Michael Turner is a top 2 back in the league.

Last year TJ had 1 TD. He's better than his '07 stats sure, but also worse than '08's.

That's mostly because Cedric Benson turned out to be Cedric Benson though. They won't miss a beat going forward with Forte.

True, as far as Benson is concerned.... he was awful. I think it was apparent he wasn't any good, even before they let Jones go. But, it seems that Bears management underestimated how much Jones meant to that offense. It was purely a financial decision, one that Lovey Smith was not in favor of. Having a guy as versatile as Jones in your backfield is a big plus...

to me, Jones is just mediocre. If he was as great as everyone is making him out to be, Chicago would have never even drafted Cedric Benson in the first place. Who, if he wasn't a moron more interested in boating drunk, should have filled in seamlessly for Jones after Jones was traded away. Chicago's subsequent collapse the next year had more to do with their defense not being elite rather than Thomas Jones being traded away.

I don't think he's great, but I also don't see how he can be considered a "bust" either (I explained why in a prior post). There is middle ground 'tween "he sucks" and "he's great". Most fans tend not to realize this.

You obviously have no idea what you are watching...none! The guy is the best runner inside the red zone in the AFC and he is NOT a straight-line runner--some of his moves are staggering.

Just WOW! But then I always say about 70% of this board is clueless.

Not even close:

Player Att Yds Avg Lng TD

Lynch 36 93 2.6 14 7

Jones 57 185 3.2 17 11

Staton 63 131 2.1 11 6

Johnson 28 82 2.9 16 6

Tomlinson 55 134 2.4 14 11

Brown 36 101 2.8 16 9

Jones-Drew 31 89 2.9 8 11

parker 33 104 3.2 16 6

White 44 77 1.8 6 14 \

Those bolded are easily better in the redzone and I haven't even looked for redzone specialists.

I'm still waiting to hear how he is the best AFC redzone runner.

He's basically a good RB, but not top 10 in anything and a problem in several areas, including passing game (blocking and catching - don't start on 47 catches being good - watch Thruman) and really is not a good cut back runner. Nice straight ahead beast runner, but it makes our offense way too predictible.

what is your criteria for 'easily better in the redzone'?

More TD's and or better YPC. But more TD's primarily. there are a few who have better ypc, but not as many TD's.

more chances should usually equate to more touchdowns. i don't see how thomas jones getting 21 more carries and 4 touchdowns in the redzone makes him that much better than marshawn lynch.

how many idiotic fades have we thrown on the 1 yard line that could have been cake touchdowns for lynch? playcalling is also a factor.
