No No No...we need a smooth talking President who can read from a teleprompter or remember a speach that was written for him, have eloquence, and be young and 'hip'

Just ask the millions of blind sheep who got Obama into office.

Would you have been saying the same thing about the blind sheep if McCain had been elected? I can respect both Obama and McCain- I couldn't say that about the Democratic and Republican candidates four years ago.

Please trying to read post #23 and #35, Einstein. I'm sure he met nothing by those statements.

Enjoy being cranky and old.

So anyone "our" age is cranky and old? So that would include our newly minted President.

I have a ton of respect for that- I can't stand when I hear people saying that a person's vote doesn't count unless they vote for one of the two "major" parties

Me too. I just remind them my vote doesn't count because I live in NY.

That is what the 2 big $ parties have told us for years and most believe that. Sad.

Not sure what that means, but have you ever talked to someone who lived in a socialist country?

In fact, yes. I spoke with my dad's cousin in Sweden just last week. She's lived in Stockholm all her life. Everything seems to be working out just fine for them, and when I asked her if Sweden's seeing economic hard times she said, "no." She said they weren't even banking on things going bad, but realized there was a possibility of it happening.

Here in NY we have a Governor no one elected and soon a US Senator who no one elected. So much for representation , I think revolution is in order.

That's rich, considering your attempt to play grammar police today:

Haha. If he's a window washer, what in the world do you do with your 1st grade grammar skills?

I guess English isn't being taught as well.

Nope...not in CBiscuitland!

Please keep 'em coming.....Einstein!

Sweden? How about someone from a more oppressed country in Eastern Europe? None have anything good to say about socialism.

You could have TEN "viable" political parties but if they all select crappy candidates you still might not have a choice. Were any of this past election's third-party candidates any good? Ron Paul maybe ... but many people don't consider third parties viable whether their candidates are good, or not. Fact is, if Jesus Christ returned and ran asm, for example, a Green...would you vote for Him? Course not, you'd read the label "Green", call Him some nasty names and vote for a wingnut. So it's not the number of parties. It's a combination of the quality of the candidates AND the willingness of the people to take their constitutional rights more seriously and do some due diligence on the candidates.

Socialism, nor any other form of government automatically equates to bad. I don't think it could work on a large scale her, but the talking heads convert socialism into evil.

Perhaps it's not the model of socialism but HOW it's implemented and WHO implements and manages it?

So you saying if socialism is implemented by good people it's a good system?

Technically, socialism is not even a form of government. It is an economic system. Democracy and socialism are not incompatible. Many aspects of our society are socialized: the post office, police, fire dept., public education. It is very convenient to use socialism as a dirty word, but in my opinion it's a matter of degree and how well it's executed.

Well, c'mon man! Which is it? A socialist country or an oppressed country?

I know. I wasn't lying about talking to someone in Sweden but I did most certainly jump on the chance to mention IT as a Socialist country knowing full well that it's THE example for success stories of Socialism.
