What a great event

The whole world is watching the peaceful transition of the most powerful country, with all the former living presidents in attendance supporting our democratic system. A great example for the world.

But I thought the US was a horrible example for the world?

Anybody else just see Juan Williams choke up just now on Fox News? Much better coverage than MSNBC.

Tried watching MSNBC for 10 min, couldn't take them falling over each other taking every shot at Bush possible, totally missing the gravity of the day in history.

On a positive note, with so many Obama supporters in DC the crime rate in other citys has gone down.

Good to see ignorant pricks still have a place in America.

I love how the thought of people of all races and ages coming together for historic event in a country bothers people. But for many people, they lived through segregation. They also have ancestors that picked cotton. So when an African-American man becomes President, it's a big deal. Some of you need to get off your high horse.

Did I mention race? I said crime and who jumps to conclusions?

Yeah, huh? Start with the old man who could do no better than puking up a 1960's vintage "blame whitey" rant when given the honor of speaking after Hussein's (I can use that now...all the libs on TV this morning said I could) swearing in.

It's gonna be a long, bitter 8 years for you.

Yes, it actually is pretty great.

I can tell from the wealth of ignorance displayed in this thread so far that many people do not appreciate it or they take it for granted, but most people really do get it. It's just that idiots are always over-represented in the court of internet opinion.

Oh no, that's not racism. That's just his historical frustration showing.

Idealism has no place on this board. Neither does rationalism or common sense.

I agree with you, but as you can see all you statement has done is riled the troglodytes. You have to wonder how many actually bothered to listen to the inaugural speech, particularly the reference to "putting aside childish things". They know no other way. They are frightened, and this is how they react.

I recommend leaving them alone in their little cesspool where they can cower in peace.

Sorry, must have missed the "no joking" signs hung in honor of todays events.

I'll go slip into my sore loser role for the next 4 years. Any pointers? You mastered the craft these last 8.

Excuse me, nozzlehead. I stood and applauded and was moved at the swearing in. I said to myself "He is my President."

then...I gotta hear "blame whitey" and and insult to this Country right there on the stand.

Now is the time to "put aside" childing things?

I tried. I tried.

Heck, I didnt even try...I DID IT. And then was slapped in the face.

And I understand that this Reverend has seen racism and bigotry I could never fathom. He has his beef. But still. At this moment. On this stage. With the WHOLE WORLD wanting to forge ahead, this Reverend chose instead to pull us RIGHT BACK DOWN. To look BACK, not forward. To take the hand being reached to him and slap it back in disgust.

Terrible.
