All inclusive

The Tomcat

Recommended Posts

looking for 2 adults 2 kids (15/13) for a week. Looking for sun, relaxation, food and drink.

Anybody have any history with an all inclusive? I'm a fine print guy and want to know whats NOT included in the All Inclusives, how your treated and its got to be safe.

Any help/direction is appreciated

Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. The best sandy beaches are an hour north in Nuevo Vallarta. The best local flavor is closer to old town, The Marina. Been to the region four times.

Next trip will be Playa del Carmen for a change and I want to go to some of the old "ruins".

Google it and read the reviews. It is always changing.

NEVER had a problem, except maybe the ignorant gringos who think they are better than the residents.

1. Leave a tip for the cleaning ladies on day one and you will be very well taken care of all week.

2. Tip the bartenders (well drinks are free) and after a day or two you are always first served.

3. Barter with the locals and when you arrive at a price, pay it. Anything else is an insult.

4. Get up early and take kayaks out in the bay, you will see dolphins and humpback whales.

5. Get on a blue "Rambo bus" and forget about taxis (ignor Fodor's advice).

6. Exception - if you go bar hopping - take the taxi (buses stop at 11PM) home.

7. Treat the locals with respect - they are the nicest people in the world.

8. Skip the time share presentation unless you like beng aggravated on vacation.

9. Breakfast is quick in te buffet, but reserve for dinners - many have a few FINE restaurants.

10. Cafe D'Ole in "old town" has a seafood chowder to DIE for at a reasonable price.

11. Try not to stay 100% in the all inclusive. If you do you might as well do Disney. It's not Mexico.
