VJ91
So if the Eagles beat the Giants today, the putrid 9-7-0 worst division winner Cardinals will host the NFC Championship game against the wild card Eagles. And the wild card Ravens have given the putrid 8-8-0 worst division winner Chargers the opportunity to host the AFC Championship if they can somehow upset the Steelers today. Now that would be pretty cool. And it would give the NFL more reason to keep the playoff system exactly the way it is. Sure, 10-6-0 and even 11-5-0 teams may get screwed out of even making the playoffs. But the Cardinals and Chargers are proving that once the playoffs start, they can prove they belong by winning. Pats fans may still think the system needs changing, but the Chargers, Ravens, Cardinals and Eagles fans are not shedding any tears for them right about now. Teams need to play by the rules as they are. Win more games and win your division and it doesn't matter what other teams do.
BuffOrange
Well obviously there's no point in having divisions if the winners aren't rewarded. Having eight of them instead of six only increases the chances of things like this year happening, but what can you do...in 1999 we were 11-5 @13-3 Tennessee while 9-7 Miami was @9-7 Seattle in the first round; nobody complained about that. Sisyphean Bills
The Patriots screwed themselves by not beating the Dolphins. They lost out by losing.

Somehow I believe if it was the Bills that got screwed out of the playoff spot that your post would be the same. However, to your point the playoffs are the equivalent to a new season.
