Chalkie Gerzowski Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Easy...knock down ECC South and build a new stadium across the street from the current one.
RJ (not THAT RJ) Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Easy...knock down ECC South and build a new stadium across the street from the current one. Worked for the Iggles and Phils....
Steve In Atlanta 2008 Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Worked for the Iggles and Phils.... Where did all this we need a new stadium shiot start anyway? I would prefer a DE and TE
The Dean Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 ridiculous---the brand is the BUFFALO BILLS--we have the best name in sports...the NIAGARA BILLs--phooey Well, they don't play in Buffalo now, and we don't call them the Orchard Park Bills. The Jets and Giants play in New Jersey, yet retain their New York handles.
Chalkie Gerzowski Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Where did all this we need a new stadium shiot start anyway? I would prefer a DE and TE A DE, a TE, a C and later a new stadium...90,000, open-air nut house!
ExiledInIllinois Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I know this is completely off topic, but thanks for the book reference. When my wife and I come home to WNY to visit my mom, we often go to Niagara on the Lake and some of the vineyards around there (there is a cool English pub that we always eat at- great food, can't remember the name). It is like night and day compared to the U.S. side and we always wonder- why? I think the area, like a lot of WNY, has a ton of potential that just hasn't been tapped- the area just seems to have taken a severe pounding over the heavy industrial "boom" years. The one US-CAN border area that I have been to that seems to reverse this trend where the US is the more "industrial" side is Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan vs. Ontario... Well just in my opinion.
BillsWatch Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Reopen the 'Turtle'! I used to love the Turtle restaurant; onion soup was absolutely wonderful. You have to look at it historically. The American side was industrial... That is what we did with it. The only thing that saved it from being a total cesspool and from total unscrupulous industrial/commercial exploitation was designating the State Park... I think it was one of the first in the country?? J You are right about the park being old. It is New York's oldest state park established in 1885. Canadian side had advantages in beginning for development. Aid provided by Canadian government, Niagara Falls being one of the more southern points in Canada hence attractive to Canadian groups and of course the dollar - lunnie ratio.

I guess it is kinda like their Vegas...
Thurman#1 Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 --old Buffalo Bill Cowboy and Indian show on the REZ....Smoking allowed--encouraged!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! in the stadium. Would be a wild success Allow smoking and you lose me and thousands and thousands of others.
EasternOHBillsFan Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Niagara Falls is perhaps the most polluted city in ratio of population in the whole Northeast. Love Canal is but the tip of the iceberg, and the city has been denial for years. Niagara University and adjacent lands have been ruined by decades of chemical dumping. No way in hell... big mistake- too bad Jimbo doesn't know the truth.
The_Philster Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Well, they don't play in Buffalo now, and we don't call them the Orchard Park Bills. The Jets and Giants play in New Jersey, yet retain their New York handles. Orchard Park is a suburb of Buffalo that's not only close enough, but it's in the same state
bananathumb Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Buffalo should build a floating stadium on Lake Erie. Of course, knowing buffalo, they'd forget to anchor it and it would take out the Peace Bridge and the grand island bridges before going over the falls.
RJ (not THAT RJ) Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Orchard Park is a suburb of Buffalo that's not only close enough, but it's in the same state So is Niagara Falls, NY.
Alaska Darin Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Jim Kelly couldn't run a restaurant in the Main Place Mall, which - by the by - he still carries debt for (people he owes money to are STILL trying to collect). I'd have very little confidence in him running the Bills. The best we can hope for at this point is that he's become hunting buddies with someone - or met someone through his Hunter's Hope/universal newborn screeing work - with boatloads of cash. Billions. He'd likely be a figurehead/minority owner for a purchase group at that point. There is a long list of people who've failed massively at running restaurants. I wouldn't use that as a gauge of any sort. Not that I don't agree with you on your point.
May Day 10 Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 I agree with the guy who said the Bills should overhaul the existing stadium much like Soldier Field. The problem is, it would take more than a Buffalo winter and a summer. I would sacrifice a half or full season in Toronto if I knew the Bills were in Buffalo to stay once the "new stadium" were built. As far as building a brand new stadium in Niagara Falls.... Unions would see to it that it would never happen
The Dean Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Orchard Park is a suburb of Buffalo that's not only close enough, but it's in the same state Per Google Maps, RWS in Orchard Park is 9.1 miles from Buffalo's City Hall. The Seneca Niagara Casino, in Niagara Falls, NEW YORK is 16.5 miles from Buffalo's City Hall. As has been pointed out, Niagara Falls IS in the same state as Buffalo (so I'm not sure what your point is). I pointed out that The New York Giants and Jets play in New Jersey (16.8 miles from NYC City Hall) and they are still called the NEW YORK Jets and Giants. This was in rebuttal to someone that suggested that playing games in Niagara Falls would result in the Bills being the Niagara Bills. I think you will find that the 16.5 miles from the city center, is NOT a terribly unusual situation for an NFL stadium. With that said, I don't think that a Niagara Falls stadium is likely to happen, or even the best choice, at this point in time. But, it isn't because it is too far from Buffalo, IMO.

Not that I don't agree with you on your point. Correct. Also, does anyone really think that Jim Kelly would be running the Bills? IF Kelly is involved with an ownership group (and that's a pretty big "if"), it is probably as the public face of the people with the $$ to buy the team (Jim doesn't have that kind of dough. Jim will not be running the Buffalo Bills, under any circumstances, IMO.

If he was interested in a GM or some other role with the team he would have it now. I think he is focused on his Hunter's hope foundation and some business interests. As for the other comments about restaurant failure inidicating an inability to run a business - perhpas this is the case but keep in mind that restaurants are the most commonly started and failed businesses in the US. They tend to be either bust and dead or boom and bust with very few lasting into the long term.

Building a new stadium near Niagara falls is something Jimbo and I have been preaching about for awhile now, the most important aspect of being closer to the Canadian border is the increase in revenues it would bring to the organization. More money in gives you more money to spend, better coaching and more FA's equals playoffs and playoffs brings in more money. OF COURSE JIM KELLY IS RIGHT, ITS A WIN, WIN SITUATION.
