BuffaloBill Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 just really sad on what the two sides have done with the same resource.... The canucks have a better view though
lets_go_bills Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I stadium in NF would be great. A shorter drive for me!
Big Turk Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I agree the State is also to blame. But, the area around the Falls on the Canadian side is park, too...and much more of it, to boot. yes that is true, and they have also done much much more to turn it into a tourist attraction with lots of things to do than the American side has, although they are starting to have similar things open up on the American side on a smaller scale.
Big Turk Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 The canucks have a better view though True, but we have a much closer view by going to goat island---there is so much more they could do with this, but sadly they don't---wouldn't matter anyways since all the extra money would end up going to the state...
Endless Ike Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 No one is going to pay the taxes for it. Indians?
keepthefaith Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 They don't pay any taxes. Exactly which is why they could afford it.
RJ (not THAT RJ) Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Exactly which is why they could afford it. Seriously, their direct connection to gambling would make that quite unlikely at present.
Tcali Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Compared to getting to OP, it would be a nightmare, IMO. The only roads into downtown are small and poorly maintained. All the country roads you speak of, funnel into the same few roads and would cause a few major bottle necks, IMO. im proposing the stadium site to be on indian land east of the city in the country. not into downtown niagara falls--waaaay too cramped and difficult to get into
Steve In Atlanta 2008 Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 im proposing the stadium site to be on indian land east of the city in the country. not into downtown niagara falls--waaaay too cramped and difficult to get into Wouldnt putting it in the country near NF defeat the purpose? I say ANNEX the city of Niagara Falls to Canada.... Maybe even Buffalo too? Personally, i think WNY needs to step up and DENY sending any of our tax money EAST to support an area in better shape than ours... Then we charge 3 times more for the electric generated from the powerplant. NYC needs its electric!

NO---it would still be much closer to canada for the canucks....-it would be a breeze for rochesterians to drive here up a zillion different roads incl 31 104 18 lake ontario pkwy it would be a 15 minute drive in the country for people from amherst and no more than a 30-40 min drive for everyone south of buffalo .plus the wild west shows,,the cheap tabaccee, the cheap gas,,the benefits to the native americans...the novelty of Bills games on the rez. They could send up smoke signals before every game--a new tradition. People from around the world would be attracted to it.

Tcali Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Have you hit the peace pipe one time too many tonight? oh ye of little imagination. doomed to mediocrity.
BuffaloBill Posted January 9, 2009 Author Posted January 9, 2009 oh ye of little imagination. doomed to mediocrity. ....I am a legend in my own mind. I live in peace with my own mediocrity.
Bufcomments Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I like the idea of a new stadium in NF It would add much needed jobs to the area It would force city leaders to clean up the city at and around the stadium I would ask the Senecas to lend a hand in construction.....forget the downtown casino.....if you really want to make friends with the state ...spend some money on a new stadium and make a deal with the state so you can keep selling gas and cigs tAX FREE More tourists in the fall and winter at Niagara falls Can you picture MNF flying the blimp over and open air staduim with the Falls in the background??...Sweet Stadium would have to have a retractable roof so you can host things like the NCAAs, Raptors games, Local HS and college games. The more I think about it the more I love the thought Same distance driving to OP anyway and away from the snow belt. If you add an amusement park like Darien Lake or even more Darien Lake there you have a major tourist attraction. I like the idea of merging NF and Buffalo, bigger tax base, more money from state More money for new stadium
ExiledInIllinois Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Over on the American side, I probably could have drove around the block about 150 times during the same time period...just really sad on what the two sides have done with the same resource.... You have to look at it historically. The American side was industrial... That is what we did with it. The only thing that saved it from being a total cesspool and from total unscrupulous industrial/commercial exploitation was designating the State Park... I think it was one of the first in the country?? Just imagine what an ecological disaster (you think it is bad now) NF, New York would be if things were allowed to run rampant and checked especially early on at the start of the 1900's. As New York being the "industrial side", what do you do with those brownfields now? The path was chosen so many years ago. Thank God it was tempered to a certain extent (the park)... In a sick way, be lucky for what we have... Again, imagine what that place would have looked... At least the land is semi-nonpolluted...
granitestatebillsbackers Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Remeber the biggest reason Ralph makes money is b/c of no debt at all on the stadium. Add the debt of buying the team and the profit is gone....add in building a stadium and you are losing money. They would need a robust corporate suite program and personal seat licenses--but can the market bear that?
damj Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Open land isn't the problem ... it's all the palms that would have to be greased to get it to happen ... would probably double the project cost. There is a reason why developers aren't interested in building in a ghost town that manages to attract 10 to 12 million tourists a year.
