T.O. May be Out in Big D?

Second, Werder addressed the status of receiver Terrell Owens.

Explaining that it’s already a topic of discussion in Dallas as to whether Owens will be back, Werder said, “[T]here is a lot of internal debate about Owens, who’s viewed internally by some people as a descending player and a divisive force in the locker room, and the question is does his performance on the field justify some of the other problems he seems to be causing with players like [quarterback] Tony Romo and [tight end] Jason Witten?”

It would be a stunning move, given that barely seven months ago the Cowboys signed him to a four-year, $34 million contract, with $12.9 million guaranteed.

In hindsight, the Cowboys could have simply paid Owens the balance of his 25 million reasons to live in 2008, and then allowed him to leave as a free agent.

That said, if Owens had played 2008 with no sense of security for 2009 or beyond, it would have been even more of a circus at Valley Ranch.

I can't believe that they would say such things about Terrell. They should all be ashamed of themselves. Seriously, I don't see Jerry Jones parting ways with Owens. But if he does, will anyone take a shot on him? He'll play nice for a year, but that's usually his extent of selflessness. I think this is going to be an exciting offseason with all of the cuts that are going to be made and players changing venues. C'mon 12:00 am, March 1.

Gee, I could have told them it was a mistake before they even thought of offering a contract to him. Could have saved them all that money. A savings like that should earn me at least a interview for their gm job!! I would be cheap to. Would do it for $250,000 a year plus a car, gas, medical and a company American Express!!!

The drop-asaurus is quite possibly the worst teamate ever in the history of sports. They should get rid of him. And I don't think anybody would wanna sign him either. He's kinda like Barry Bonds in that way; great player and statistical monster, but a me-first guy who only cares about himself.

It's obvious Romo is irritated with him. And if Romo is your future and franchise QB then you should probably keep him happy.

Speaking of governement bailouts, did anyone here the story on the news today, the porn industy is requesting a bailout. Larry Flint is spearheading the request, claiming many gorgeous women will be out of work. All things considered it is kind of a funny stunt.

Jones should release him, then request a government bailout.

At this point is his career he would make a perfect Raider.

I figured he was gone the minute they traded for Roy Williams. Yeah, thats a big contract that they signed him to 7 months go, but only 12.9 mil is guaranteed. And guess what? He got all that in a signing bonus this year, and his salary was 13 mil.

What does that all mean? Contracts in the NFL aren't guaranteed! The Cowboys can cut the guy in March, and they won't feel a bit of pain. They may have to dish out a little more dead money, but not much. And hey, its the Cowboys, they have plenty of spare money to throw around.

I'm suprised Werder wasn't smart enough to see that the contract was front ended and the COwboys wont have much pain

Cowboys need to do something. There's no way it's getting better with the dissension on that team. To me the most telling camera shot of that Philly blowout was a shot of Owens, Williams and Crayton on the sideline discussing the game. Meanwhile, ten yards down the sideline Romo and Whitten are having their own discussion. Great teamwork.

Are you kidding me, I want the Cowboys to keep Owens.

The longer he stays the more the Cowboys will get off to their high flying starts in September and then crash and burn in December. B-)

C'mon, you all have to admit that watching the Cowboys self destruct these last two seasons has been a beautiful sight to behold.

So keep'em Jones, let Owens get all his money and let him continue to divide the team.
