Defense

They won't be ignoring it, they will be getting back hopefully a 100% Schobel next season, and like I said, with an offence thats a threat to score more then just FG's, the defence can play more aggressive and not have to worry about giving up some points cause the offence can't get those points back. I think the biggest reason why the defence didn't look better was because they were too affraid to get beat and give up points that they knew the offence couldn't get back. If the offence is a threat to score points, the defence won't have to continually try and pitch shutouts to keep the team in a game.

This Bills Tampa 2 isn't really about pitching shutouts, though. Since Dick Jauron installed the Tampa 2, the Bills defense has had 1 shutout, 3 years ago, against Joey Harrington and his anemic Dolphins offense. 1 shutout in 48 games isn't a tendency.

The offense needs help, but the O-Line finally came together the last 5 or 6 weeks of the season. Signing Peters is important. A pass catching tight end will help tremendously. Trent's needs to keep getting better, while staying healthy.

But simply put, you cannot ignore the virtually non-existent pass rush. The lack of sacks should be a terrifying statistic to Bills fans.

The OL came together because teams knew that dropping 6-7 guys into coverage was something the HC and OC never learned how to counter. It's why Buffalo ran for 186 versus CLE. They had a good day against NYJ, but playing the Broncos, they couldn't muster much on the ground. As a matter of fact, they couldn't gain more than 90 on the ground.

The Bills should really concentrate on building a top flight D. It's been proven time and time again in the NFL that you can advance DEEP into the playoffs with a very good D and mediocre O. On the flip side, there are plenty of good offensive teams that never sniff the playoffs.

When you consider Buffalo's climate in Nov & Dec it's tough to hang big offensive numbers on the board unless you have Jim Kelly, Thurman, Reed, Lofton, Metzelars, and a couple pro bowl O-linemen.

There's no reason the Buffalo Bills should get pushed around especially at home late in the season.
