LabattBlue
http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/12/31/...r-voting-bogus/ He is living in a dream world if he really believes that he should be the NFL Rookie of the Year instead of Ryan. [edited]A case could be made that he wasn't even the best rookie RB....see Steve Slaton.
BillsObserver
Matt Forte as well, but he had more carries than either rookie. Slaton is 6th, Forte is 7th and Johnson is 8th in rushing. Comparatively speaking, Matt Ryan is #11 in passing categories. But the quarterback position is more challenging than the running back position. It seems like you can plug any running back in and they can get the job done. Can't say that for the quarterback position.
The Dean
Honestly, it wouldn't seem as stupid if he didn't play for Cincinnati.

Did either Slaton or Forte split carries w/ a back that got an additional 200 carries and ran for 773 yards and 15 TDs? Considering he wasn't hording all the carries, that makes the season Johnson ended up having all the more impressive. He didn't have to whine 'bout the process, but he does have reason to believe he should've won the award.
lets_go_bills
What an ignorant baby. Ryan plays a much tougher position in QB, where rookies practically never have success. He also played on a team that was a preseason favourite to be the worst team in football. He also was playing for a team with a rookie HC, a suspect line, a suspect receiving corps, and an unknown commodity in Turner. No one is taking away from what Chris did, but he did not deserve the O-ROY, Ryan did. The NFL/AP got it right. Shut up Chris.

Rookie of the Year voting should not take into account what a player MIGHT have done if he got more playing time.

Not much of a difference, right? The fact that LenDale White had 200 carries speaks to the type of offense they run. Ahman Green had 74 carries as Slaton's back-up. Clearly he's got a lot of talent and I'm not disputing the fact he shouldn't be considered for rookie of the year but all things equal, Slatons numbers are almost identical. I can't argue that he could have had HUGE numbers if White didn't get that many carries but that's how it worked out.
Dr. Fong
At least he didn't play the race card. He must have some kind of clause in his contract and the voting cost him money.
