Thoner7
Found this on another site, seems pretty interesting. Take into account that some of the guys, like Holmgren and Shanahan, are also the teams GM. Good ole' Dickie, right at the bottom. Thanks Ralph. KD in CA
Someday I hope someone can explain to me the logic behind paying your players $80-$100MM per year and then skimping on an extra $2-$3MM to hire a competent head coach.
BarkLessWagMore
His position on that list notwithstanding, the notion that Jauron makes $1.5mm for his incompetency is almost mind boggling.
billsfaninnyc
Your logic is seriously flawed - if you look at DJ's pay, it is right in line with the other coaches that were hired the same year; those at the top have been hired more recently or are longer tenured.... This is not the most helpful post...

It's rather remarkable isn't it? How is this a good businessman or good business decision? Then again, the guy knows he's not going to live this much longer. He also knows that his wife and kids are not going to own the team, and that he can't spend any money himself where he is going. Where is the logic, even in his twisted brain, of not spending $30 million on Bill Cowher for five years, and having his family make 820 million on the sale instead of $850 mil? BillsVet
Tony Sparano is getting 3M per to win games. And he's a rookie coach. Our coach is thankful to be anything more than a position coach.
In space no one can hear
So the Bronos owner is willing to eat Shanahan's 8 million per year contract and Wilson can't swallow 1.5 million a year?

That's a great point. A case could be made that a lot more money should be spent on coaches and scouts. A greater return might come from that.
