head scout- offensive line

Anyone know if Linda Bogdan, that legendary talent evaluator of the Bills, has responsibility for the scouting the OL.

If she is as good as most posters think, it sure would explain why the Bills have been unable to evaluate and acquire talented OL since Polian left.

The problem isn't that she's a women or even that she's related to Ralph - the problem with the Bills organization is that how well you do your jobs seems to be insignificant as compared to how well you kiss Ralph's a$$, and if you get along with everybody else, I'm not even going to say those things are unimportant but man how well you do your job has to count for something.

an in depth study on offensive lines by footballoutsiders.com concluded that the best offensive lines are not built thru the draft...they are not built thru free agency....they are built through continuity. Having the same 5 players start for multiple seasons is the single biggest factor in whether an offensive line improves or regresses, and by how much. The control groups that had continuity outperformed lines where high priced FA's were brought in and where high draft choices were used over a 5 year period...

Something to really think about when complaining about needing new players on the Oline....

Let me turn that on it's head - if you have good players you get continuity because don't have to replace them because they are good.

that would be the correct assessment

By continually starting crappy players, you will have a continually crappy OL

maybe not as crappy as if you rotated different crappy players, but still crappy.

just review the Bills OL situation for the last 15 years.

On the other hand, if you had a program in place where you consistently drafted OL players and melded them into your OL mix, you would retain continuity but at a very high level of production.
