Cheeseburger_in_paradise
These shows stink. So this is supposed to be the answer to the the huge disservice that has been given to us by traditional network news? I don't think so. It seems to me, these commentators are so polarized to one side or the other, and will take a popular perception, one side or the other, ie: (Casey Anthony is guilty, guilty guilty...), the point of view, left or right, MSNBC and CNN to the left, Fox to the right, and they will run with it for ratings only. Not for truth. Our media mix needs to be full, in my opinion. But we should all try harder and care more to understand the facts, and not change them. Don't people remember the 70's, Jimmy Carter's true legacy, not his hammering on houses or claiming to having been the first black president, instead of Clinton. Worst economy since the great depression my ass. At the moment I have the time to weed through most of this stuff. But The average bloke does not. We should be afraid, very afraid, about the info being shoved down our throats. And Nancy Grace is the worst. She was so right about those Duke lacrosse players after all. Boomer860
Like my father used to say "no matter how thin you slice it , it's still baloney" I watched these news channels for just so long and then I thought ,why should I pay to listen to all this hot air? I cut my cable service to just basic ,saved fifty some dollars and did not miss all the people babbling. One person says one thing then the other person says the opposite..Really there is nothing of value on TV. There is always bad news so why pay for it? News is news so just report it without giving thier opinion. The reason the country is divided is the news media. In the mean time the politicians are robbing the country at the expense of the people they are supposed to represent.

You can watch to much-A constant diet of pablum is not good-I liked fox news when it first came out because the other choices were far left-but when I turned them on today they spent 15 min. on Caylee Anthony. I have been watching Lou Hobbs lately which is remarkable since he works for the Clinton news network.

It's the news opinion media. I used to watch CNBC all the time. That is really depressing to watch. The only thing I like is the NFL Network. Kelly the Dog
1] Just straight news 24 hours a day would bore the crap out of you. It would be worse than AM radio playing the #1 song 83 times a day. 2] There isn't enough money to pay for reporters to go out and actually do straight news stories anyway, that is, if there were such a thing as straight news stories without the reporter's or editor's or producer's or station owner's built in biases 3] As usual, the more morons watch, the more the powers that be feed the morons. So, as usual, it's at least as much your fault, the general public, than it is the Cable News networks. They will give you anything you will watch in big numbers. The MORE opinionated the host is on cable news, the more you morons watch them (O'Reilly and Hannity, Olberman and now Maddow ring a bell?) 4] Cable News, however much they won't admit it, was not really supposed to replace the Network News, it was supposed to complement the Network News. Be a different option. 90% of the shows on the cable networks are not even supposed to be news shows, they are opinion shows, like Talk Radio. If you thought those were supposed to be news shows, that's your fault for being a moron. 5] Like ESPN, Cable News is actually awesome, if used correctly, and if you don't expect things that you shouldn't expect from it. blzrul
I note that some stations, due to the economy, are now going off the air in the evening. If these cable news stations were to follow that lead, then they wouldn't have to stretch to fill up 24 hours with "news". With the web, many people are getting their news on demand anyway without having to be subjected to commercials LifeAlert, Cialis, Viagara and the screeching of Nancy Grace .... It's a boob tube, or an idiot box, no matter how you look at it. I still believe some of the personalities on the news channels could do better at adhering to the canons of journalism. It's fine to have opinion shows; it's bothersome to me is all, when they pretend to be news. I say this from the perspective of someone having worked in radio, newspaper, television, and cable, for most of my career, and having been one of those powers that be at times.
