PromoTheRobot Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Better than hearing.."WTF, there's always a first time...let's roll." PTR

Tortured Soul Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Does anyone else think this huge screw-up could have been mitigated if the pilot had only said "I'm not certified to land" instead of "I'm not qualified?" They do have different meanings...
SageAgainstTheMachine Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Does anyone else think this huge screw-up could have been mitigated if the pilot had only said "I'm not certified to land" instead of "I'm not qualified?" They do have different meanings... In either case, the guy did the right thing here. If you've got peoples' lives in your hands and you don't feel confident, it's best to not go for it. If anything, it's the airline's fault for not reading the weather report and sending the guy up in the first place.
Steely Dan Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 In either case, the guy did the right thing here. If anything, it's the airline's fault for not reading the weather report and sending the guy up in the first place. It's the airlines fault for letting a level 5 pilot even get behind the wheel of a plane. Fut the Wuck is that about?
DC Tom Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Unfortunately, I'm not qualified to land the plane in Paris. They are asking for a level two qualification and I only have a level five Dude shoulda killed more orcs...
/dev/null Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Dude shoulda killed more orcs... He's only qualified to land in Elwynn Forest DING! Now he can land in Westfall
Marv's Neighbor Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Does anyone else think this huge screw-up could have been mitigated if the pilot had only said "I'm not certified to land" instead of "I'm not qualified?" They do have different meanings... They were British and he was speaking English.
Chilly Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 He's only qualified to land in Elwynn Forest DING! Now he can land in Westfall Play a real game. www.warhammeronline.com
WellDressed Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 There are times in life when one has to just shut up and "give it a go", that was one of them.
DC Tom Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 There are times in life when one has to just shut up and "give it a go", that was one of them. Yeah, when you're flying an airplane full of passengers, landing in a heavy fog, THAT'S the time to say "What the hell, let's go for it."
Steely Dan Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Yeah, when you're flying an airplane full of passengers, landing in a heavy fog, THAT'S the time to say "What the hell, let's go for it." As long as you don't say that over the intercom why not?
BuffaloBill Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 That was me when JP rolled out with 2:06 remaining on Sunday... At least the pilot understands his limitations
/dev/null Posted December 20, 2008 Posted December 20, 2008 Play a real game. www.warhammeronline.com I'm holding off on warhammer. I've had bad luck with new MMOs starting off really good then poor to none existent mid to upper level content. Case in point, DAoC, which is produced by the same company as Warhammer (and from what i've heard, Warhammer is a bastard stepchild of DAoC and WoW)
