I'm sorry, I tend to limit my statistics to within the last 3 generations.  ;)

Rejoice in your championship.  Stop obsessing over the Yankees - even though they are the franchise that all teams wish they could be.

I've seen post on Yankee boards stating how baseball will be no longer fun due to "Curse" and "1918" being gone.

Not only do Yankee fans obsess about Boston but Steinbrenner has ade made moves specifically in stopping the Red Sox making trades. (ie Boone trade was done to stop Red Sox from getting Freddy Garcia and they prevented the Sox trading for Javy Vazquez last year too.

Hey the 1918 reference was good while it lasted. Get over it.

Red Sox deserve their WS rings, played great ball.

georgie poorgie? what are you 5 years old? ;)

Jimy Williams made that reference famous.

Sounds like smart management. Hurt your closest opposition while strengthening yourself. And it has nothing to do with the Red Sox, as he does it to other teams as well.

Just because a small percentage of supposed "fans" say it won't be fun doesn't make it true for the majority.

Sox fans need to get over this mindset. They haven't been the underdog for years, even though they haven't been able to get it done.

I am the only Red Sox fan at my job. I am surrounded by at least 20 yankee fans. I have been hearing how great the Yankees are for quite awhile now. So when the Sox came back and defeated the mighty Yanks from a 3-0 deficite. The greatest comeback in the history of major league baseball. It was VERY tempting to rub it in there faces. But, knowing full well how it feels to have your team do a total collapse, I did not give in to the temtation. ;)

I was rather surprised at how these Yankee fans, my friends, could not find it there hearts to wish the Red Sox luck. So I asked them, we have been your ugly step sister for many, many years, why so much hostility towards the Red Sox?

I could not get a straight answer from them. All I could get in response were "we won 26 titles' you only won one". My response to them was is will always be, this one little World Series is all I need. Yeah, it would be nice if we won another Championship. But this Red Sox fan does not need it.

I think that is what seperates Yankee fans from fans of other teams. The Yankees and there fans can't seem to see the forest for the trees. They are so into winning it every year, that winning a 100 games and having a great season is mute, because they did not win the series.

I look forward to another great rivalry between these two great organizations in 2005.

GOTTA LOVE THE SOX! :(

Look at the threads just on this board. YOu can spin it anyway you want but just as Red Sox fans wanted to beat NY , Yankee fans wanted 1918 to live forever and cared deeply about that.

One board, nyyfans.com did nightly game threads for the World Series with over 900 posts per game.

Yankee fans are just like Red Sox fans. Deal with it.

Hey call me "old school"... I just don't see the point of playing 162 games then letting in "wild card" teams.

Let the Expos in and they might get hot an win.

What are we on now? A string of 3 WC teams winning the WS.

I have said, since the beginning, the WC and palyoff format in baseball is a great advantage to a team that back doors it in.

Yah, the BoSox won... For much of the last century, they wouldn't even have been sniffing October this year.

Sour grapes? You betcha.

I am all for keeping the game traditional. Raise the mound back up. 86 the DH in AL. And God! Stop playing the WS at night... Cold October nights! When baseball gets tweeked, major results happen that alters the course of the game... Look at all the HR's??

Today's numbers mean nothing if it can't bridge to the past.

You want to hear the playoff system I want? The National and American League. The best record in the National league plays the best in the American League just like pre 1969.

If you can't show you deserve it over 162 games, then you don't.

I know it's all about TV, but how many teams have gone by the wayside when it was clear they were the best team and got busted in a best of 7 series?

I can deal with the playoffs as they are set up, but that's what I want to go back to.

I totally agree... Why play the 162 game season, so many games, if they are going to give more teams a second chance.

I can deal with it too.

I think the playoffs just cheapen the juggernaut of the "season."

Best record AL team play best record NL in WS, best of 9.

Night games in October really start resembling the early season where the hits come a plenty and are not indicative of the game because of cold pitching.

I guess we are purists?

I prefer pitching duels.

i would argue that since wild card teams are winning the championship so often that it is perfect for the game. The Best team wins every year. Just cause the Yanks finished 3 measley games ahead of the Sox in a 162 game schedule does not mean that only they should have the right to play in October. If there is no wild card then we dont have these great Yanks/Sox series the last few years. It is GREAT for baseball. As far as these baseball purists they can go to hell.....its much more exciting watching the DH than it is watching some crap pitcher try to lay down a bunt and wind up popping it up. Its boring.

I have a few friends that are Yankee fans & I feel the same way. I was in awe of the Yanks team of the late 90's, great teams. But Yankee fans can not admit their team of superstars is not the same? Pitching stinks, Shitfield is not the savior, either is A-rod! Lot of holes but I am sure they will figure it out! Jeter, Posada, Williams, & Moose are great players. The 2004 Sox ripped the hearts from the Yankees in one of the greatest series ALCS of all time!

Well Williams and Shetfield will not be back next season. The entire pitching staff will be overhauled. The only ones who will be left are Mussina, El Duque, Vasquez, Rivera, Gordon and Sturtze. The Yanks will fill the rotation with FA's and use their depleted minor league system to get middle relief.

Shitfield signed a 3 year deal I thought??

Money does not matter to the Boss...he will be happy to pay the remaining 2 yrs on the contract to get rid of him if they can find another right fielder.

Man, I'm happy for the Sox, but Christ, get over the !@#$ing Yankees. When the Bills win the Super Bowl I sure as hell am not going to be thinking about the Pats or the Dolphins or the Cowboys or Redskins or even the Giants.

Enjoy the fact that your team won and shut up about the Yankees or you just might have to wait another 86 years. Karma's a B word.
