VJ91
The biggest firing that needs to be done at One Bills Drive has nothing to do with DJ or his band of stupid over-coachers. It is once again time for Ralph to fire himself as team president, and either promote Brandon to run the entire show, or bring in another qualified football man (hopefully better then Donahoe this time) to run if for him. If Wilson could be honest with himself, the best teams he has fielded in his almost 50 years as Bills' owner have been either coached or GM'd by good solid football men who couldn't care less about their players' "liking them" unless they were winners. Lou Saban (twice), Chuck Knox, and the Bill Polian/Marv Levy GM/coach combo all had that in common. Even "lovable Marv" had no problem getting in the face of his crazy Hall of Famers when they needed it. Plus the guy showed some emotion on the sidelines - especially at the refs! And one thing Levy loved to do and was pretty damn good at, was call the plays inside the 10 yard line. But that was as coach. As a part time fill-in GM for two years, Marv sucked. I hate to say that about a true deserving Hall of Fame coach, but he did nothing to help "turn around" Donahoe's mess, and when the Bills finish 6-10 this year, the team will be right back where they started in 2006 when Marv came in. As a coach, Levy used to say that winning was really simple, but the work needed to put in on the fundamentals was hard. Wilson's dilema can be described the same way: his answer is simple: whenever he runs most of the football show, his teams have sucked. Now comes the hard part for him as the regular season comes to an end and super-salesman Russ Brandon has to try to get those 53,000 season tickets renewed: He has to put his 90 year old ego aside and let a real football man take over.
