molson_golden2002
So much for drilling our way to energy independence, as if....... another day, another right wing slogan in the trash can http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/16/business...tml?_r=1&hp From the plains of North Dakota to the deep waters of Brazil, dozens of major oil and gas projects have been suspended or canceled in recent weeks as companies scramble to adjust to the collapse in energy markets. But the project delays are likely to reduce future energy supplies — and analysts believe they may set the stage for another surge in oil prices once the global economy recovers. Oil markets have had their sharpest-ever spikes and their steepest drops this year, all within a few months. Now, with a global recession at hand and oil consumption falling, the market’s extreme volatility is making it harder for energy executives to plan ahead. As a result, exploration spending, which had risen to a record this year, is being slashed.

Im SHOCKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Im glad the article at least nodded to the unspoken part of the oil business. That is, cost. Cost for exploration and extraction isnt exactly cheap. KD in CA
It's always so amusing to come here and see people starting threads about topics they completely misunderstand. Of course it's usually the same people who think that the POTUS can 'fix' the economy. While the article pretty clearly explains the drivers behind the decision making, the bad news for consumers is that this will only exacerbate the problem when high oil prices return, which they most certainly will do. Did it ever occur to you he was making a comment in general and not always about you, or are you so egocentric that you cannot fathom a post that doesn't apply to you? The oil crisis will re-occur, next time not coming down as fast or at all. While the prices are lower now is the time to get our reserves up and find an alternative to the dependence on oil. We need to stop being so dependent on others for our energy.
