BuffaloBill
QBs that may be available next year (from and in the classifications provided by scout.com - for what it is worth I do not see Cassel as a starter in the NFL): Quarterbacks Who Are Considered Starters Kurt Warner/Arizona Cardinals/UFA - Sources indicate that contract negotiations have been slow in getting Warner an extension but the team clearly doesn't trust Matt Leinart. If Warner continues to play well, look for the team to step up their effort to get Warner signed to a three-year deal. Kerry Collins/Tennessee Titans/UFA - Things are going so well that it wouldn't be a surprise if they signed the veteran signal caller to an extension during the regular season. Matt Cassel/New England Patriots/UFA - He's finally getting his shot to play and is starting to play better. Cassel could garner decent interest around the league next year if he continues to progress. Jeff Garcia/Tampa Bay Buccaneers/UFA - The team hasn't shown much interest in getting him signed to a new deal but if they continue to win, Garcia could make it hard to management not to sign him. Tampa Bay also doesn't have a younger quarterback that's really ready to emerge as the starter at the position. Others Who Could Find Interest For Backup Purposes Chris Simms/Tennessee Titans/UFA J.P. Losman/Buffalo Bills/UFA Byron Leftwich/Pittsburgh Steelers/UFA Rex Grossman/Chicago Bears/UFA Kyle Boller/Baltimore Ravens/UFA Luke McCown/Tampa Bay Buccaneers/UFA David Carr/New York Giants/UFA Patrick Ramsey/Denver Broncos/UFA Brooks Bollinger/Dallas Cowboys/UFA Dan Orlovsky/Detroit Lions/UFA Charlie Frye/Seattle Seahawks/UFA Charlie Batch/Pittsburgh Steelers/UFA Anthony Wright/New York Giants/UFA (below are my comments not scout.com): Who the Bills go after will depend largely on who is named as OC. My hope is that they make a run at Collins, Warner or Garcia. Any of these guys could play the role of player coach for Edwards. Should Edwards stumble badly again as he did this year they have a viable #2 to step in. Of the remaining QB's Leftwich or Batch may be the best available. The Bills would also be wise to search long and hard for a good QB coach. Looks like they have little choice but to go with Edwards again for next season. He has shown at times that he has what it takes. He has fallen apart once opposing defenses learned to take away the underneath and dump off routes. They will continue to do so until he shows he can beat the tactic.

ans4e64
I'm sure Warner, Collins, and Garcia would all love to give up their starting jobs to come play left bench for one of the worst franchises in the National Football League.

TB iss not hot on Garcia and no guarantee that the any of them are resigned by their current teams. However, your post points out that the situation is even worse for Buffalo as there is likely to be no QB with decent experiience available to them unless someone unexpectedly gets cut from their current team. Tortured Soul
So you know, that's about as great a list of FA QBs you will see in your life. A true franchise QB absolutely never hits the open market.

I also suspect that Philly may part ways with McNabb he would be a great #2.

BuffaloBill
Except for when Brees did(injury issue). Sometimes a coaching change will pop someone loose also. While not hall of fame material you have to wonder also if the Bills would have been smart to have grabbed Pennington. Edwards plays a similiar game. apuszczalowski
Hamdan will be the #2, they won't get a FA QB this offseason. That list is not impressive. And there is no way that a starter right now like Garcia, or Collins or Warriner will come to Buffalo to be a backup. The only way they sign here is if they are given a chance to start, and would probably have to go into TC as the penciled in starter before they would ever agree to sign here. The only way they sign as a backup somewhere is if theres no other option and they don't feel like retiring yet. McNabb coming to Buffalo to be the #2 guy is about as likely as a Duke Preston pro Bowl start this year. If he is tossed aside in Philly this offseason, there will be plenty of teams making offers to have him start for them (Chicago, Detroit???) Even the coaches have never seen him in a live game (pre-season excluded). However, if the current coach is in place, it won't matter who plays any position. We are in for a really long season if we do not identify another QB for our roster. Let TE amd Hamdan compete but going into the year with an unproven QB at #2 is not a good situation. 2020 Our Year For Sure
Did you actually suggest Edwards would start over Donovan McNabb? Common man.
reddogblitz
Get either Warner, McNabb, Garcia, Anthony Wright, or Collins and name them the starter going into 2009. Let Trent watch and study and practice for couple of years and then maybe he'll be ready. Get Leftwitch, Batch, or Carr to backup Trent. Maybe Leftwitch starts if Trent continues to suck. Get us a real QB for 2009 PLEASE. Go BILLS !!
