reddogblitz
I mean as of last Sunday, he seemed amenable to coaching again, and what better fit than Buffalo Bill Cowher? Â Marty S. Â I'm a little confused on the total enfatuation with Bill Cowher around here. Yes, he did win Super Bowl XL. However, during his career many of the years his teams were average. You gotta question his personnel decisions, I mean, the whole Slash thing was a bust. Â And the Super Bowl he did win, was with a lot of help. In the first playoff game, Carson Palmer gets hurt in the first quarter and John Kitna has to go the rest of the way. And then in the Super Bowl itself, he was the benificiary of numerous home town calls (phantom TD by Big Ben, phantom holding call etc.). And the Seahawks totally choked with tight end Jeramy Stevens dropping 4 passes and missing fiels goal and mismanaging the clock before the half and at the end of the game. Â I think he's over rated and would take Marty over Bill C any day. Marty can turn us around to competitive quickly. Not sure about BC.

Don't you never mind these morons around here, they're just tryin to skeer you away! Â Cowher would be a refreshing change, but there is no way Ralphie is willing to part with the kind of cash (and control of the team) that it would take to get him. What planet are you from ? In Cowher’s 15 seasons, the Steelers captured eight division titles, earned ten postseason playoff berths, played in 21 playoff games, advanced to six AFC Championship games and made two Super Bowl appearances. He is one of only six coaches in NFL history to claim at least seven division titles. At the conclusion of the 2005 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers had the best record of any team in the National Football League since Cowher was hired as head coach.  Team Year Regular Season Post Season Won Lost Ties Win % Finish Won Lost Win % Result PIT 1992 11 5 0 .688 1st in AFC Central 0 1 .000 Lost to Buffalo Bills in AFC Divisional Game. I do think three years removed from TD Ralphie may be willing to part with that kind of control of the team.  And for the cash? Probably not enough to get Cowher, but maybe a top assistant. Ralphie will realize eventually that if you're already spending 120M on the team, you might as well go the extra 5M for a coach that can win. Simple math. Â I agree as much as I like Cowher I don't think we could afford him. Plus he likes to run a 3-4 and at this point I would like to see us stay with the 4-3 and keep building with players that fit that defense as long as it's more aggressive i.e Baltimore. Rex Ryan or Singletary fit the mold and salary range a little better. Â When has Ralph ever went after a big name coach? Chuck Knox?

marauderswr80
Any GOOD coach with a sane mind will NEVER coach in Buffalo with Ralph Wilson as the owner. We will get 3rd tier coaching.......GW, Mularkey, Jauron.....get my drift? If Ralph Wilson sold the team, I wouldnt put it past the new regime to find a quality coach like Cowher.....
