Rubes Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 I thought that we would certainly be better this year compared to last year. I thought there was no possible way our offense could be worse than last year. We lost so many close ones last year because of a completely inept offense. With all the new talent and coaching, there would be no possibility our offense could be worse. No way. Even a slight improvement on offense would be enough to get us to 8-8. Could we possibly regress with a healthy Moulds, a speed receiver, and a new toy like McGahee? No way. Damn I hate it when I'm wrong.
Generation ME Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 You just need to execute better. Oh wait, you're a Doctor. Bad advice.

Paco Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 This is much more refreshing than the litany of "I was right all along" threads.
Rubes Posted October 27, 2004 Author Posted October 27, 2004 But next year....we couldn't possibly be as bad on offense as this year, right?
Rico Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 But next year....we couldn't possibly be as bad on offense as this year, right? 88166 Well, if JP gets hurt & Drew is his back-up...

I wasn't quite ready to predict this was a playoff team, but there's abso-friggin-lutely no way I would've said 1-5 and sinking like a rock... 88178 No kidding. You know, I'm really believing now that most of this is Drew. It's really amazing to see all of the stories from a couple years ago about how Pats fans were in the same position we are now. How they wouldn't admit it was Drew. The offensive line sucked. Drew just needed better protection. You know what? I really don't think our offensive line is THAT bad. It's not great, but I've seen them wear down three really good defenses this year, only to see some boneheaded play screw things up. I think once Drew is out of there we see just how decent this line is.
ch19079 Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 i predicted atleast a 9 win season. and after the miami disaster, i was thinking 10 wins. damn was i wrong.
Ray Posted October 27, 2004 Posted October 27, 2004 Rubes you are exactly right. We have a Drew problem. I really like the guy, but as you replace him with a QB that doesn't make mistakes and makes the throws he should (hitting a wide open Moulds at the goal line) we are much much improved. Drew got at least 5 seconds to make a throw on three sacks--just throw it away or dump it off. Our Oline is not that bad. Watch its improvement with the replacement of the QB.

The Oline could definately stand to have a better talent, but I think Drew, in a round-about way, makes them look bad. It's not just the fact that he takes sacks. The pass rush is there, and the other teams ARE getting to him very quickly. It's kind of the RJ situation. The fact that he Drew can't seem to overcome the pass rush by throwing the ball away or running out and making good throws, lets the defenses use that as their game-plan. We DO get more aggressive blitzing than most teams do, but only because Drew has proven that he cannot overcome it. An Oline should be able to pick up blitzes throughout a game, but when they come on every play and in so many different formations, it's tough to keep up. Like I said, I do put a lot of blame on the line, but Drew could be helping them out if he were a better QB.
