Buffalo Bills have running groove on, but it hasn't helped

Buffalo one of few NFL squads that loses when it runs well

ORCHARD PARK — In a season that has been filled with puzzling occurrences for the Buffalo Bills, topped by the team's plunge from a 5-1 record to its current 6-6 mark, here's another one that sticks out.

The old axiom is that in order to be successful on offense you must be able to run the ball effectively, and wide receiver Lee Evans, for one, wholeheartedly agrees.

"No doubt," Evans said. "Right now, our line and our running backs, they have a good groove on and when your running game is working, your offense is working. You're able to throw the ball outside and things like that. Having a commitment to the running game is big and it definitely helps us on the outside."

OK, then explain this: Of the four best running days the Bills have enjoyed this season, they have won only one of those games, and that came against Kansas City, whose defense is nothing short of pathetic.
