YellowLinesandArmadillos Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Yikes, Dow down 150 immediately, scary and October and Sept revised downward too... almost a million in the last three months. This one month is the largest since 1974, good old Bush economics comin' home to roost.

DC Tom Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 I thought you were smarter than this. Good one. He seems kind of grouchy today.
YellowLinesandArmadillos Posted December 5, 2008 Author Posted December 5, 2008 I thought you were smarter than this. Good one. I am, but couldn't resist after getting on and seeing all the RW hack topics.
YellowLinesandArmadillos Posted December 5, 2008 Author Posted December 5, 2008 The real thing is what now, not that this is a big surprise, but it looks like we will be flushing this out for a while with more bad news probably coming down the pike and NY is talking about raising taxes... on what? They already have folks by the throat.
/dev/null Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 NY is talking about raising taxes... on what? They already have folks by the throat. If the throat is all NY has people by, I'm sure they'll start grabbing lower
VABills Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Less than they thought. they were expecting 7.0 unemployment rate. it was only 6.7. Not good if you're one of the 6.7 but really good if you're part of the .3 not laid off.

erynthered Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Where did you hear NY was taling about raising taxes? When dont they?
Boomer860 Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Yikes, Dow down 150 immediately, scary and October and Sept revised downward too... almost a million in the last three months. This one month is the largest since 1974, good old Bush economics comin' home to roost. The Dems have been in charge of congress for the last two years ,why didnt they do some thing. Between corrupt politicians like that queer Barney Frank and the the corrupt financial gurus they took down the system . Oh and throw in high oil prices at the time. Change is coming ...its going to get worse.
Boomer860 Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 When dont they? Good point. Lay off some employees .. like some of those fat butted lazy state troopers , making seventy thousand a year for checking seat belts, and no I didnt get stopped or get a ticket
John Adams Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Less than they thought. they were expecting 7.0 unemployment rate. it was only 6.7. Not good if you're one of the 6.7 but really good if you're part of the .3 not laid off. The forecast was for 340K in job losses. Some said it could be as high as 370K...in fact, it turns out to be 530K.
elegantelliotoffen Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Yeah, but according to the libs, all the GAINS in jobs over the last coupla years were really not "real jobs." They were all "burger flippers" and the like that the Bushies used to prop up the employment numbers. So therefore, why should we cry that lil Johnny lost his gig at In and Out? Not exactly. About half of the job cuts announced in November occurred in the financial sector, where Citigroup alone said it would eliminate 50,000 jobs. So far this year, financial firms have announced more than 220,000 layoffs, more than a fifth of the total announced losses. "Obviously, the financial sector is still struggling," said John Challenger, chief executive of the firm. "It is too soon to tell if and when government intervention will be effective at stemming the rate of job cuts." The survey found that retail, transportation and automotive firms together announced about 32,000 layoffs in November, a total that was divided more or less equally among the three sectors. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?.../BUDA14GTA9.DTL
molson_golden2002 Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Tax cuts along with the invasion of Iraq caused the Fed to follow a loose money policy which drove interest rates down overheating the housing market which then collasped. That's what happened! That's my story and I'm sticking to it
YellowLinesandArmadillos Posted December 5, 2008 Author Posted December 5, 2008 When dont they? Sorry, NYC and Westchester are both talking about it. Crazy when I know folks in Northern Westchester paying over $20,000 a year for a postage stamp house in property taxes, school taxes and county taxes. What the hell. http://lohud.com/article/2008812040469 http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2008/1...rk_city_ma.html

Between corrupt politicians like that queer Barney Frank and the the corrupt financial gurus they took down the system . Oh and throw in high oil prices at the time. Not good if you're one of the 6.7 but really good if you're part of the .3 not laid off. Focus on the U6 number, far more realistic. Unemployment is 12.2% in this country right now.
blzrul Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Focus on the U6 number, far more realistic. Unemployment is 12.2% in this country right now. You are absolutely correct. Yawn. Another Bush. Another recession. This one hits the trifecta, again. Biggest losses in a generation, biggest economic crisis in 70 years, and we're taking the rest of the world with us. I guess the latter makes the wingnuts happy. So the dilemma for the President-Elect: start taking charge now, when it's improper and he has no power? Seems like the current pResident ran for the bus a long time ago. I guess since we've lacked leadership for so long another few months might not matter that much ... but then winter is coming and a lot of people are going to be cold and hungry. Hopefully all those faith-based initiatives the knuckle-draggers like to promote can step up. What better season for us to ask "Are there no prisons? Are there no workhouses?"
molson_golden2002 Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 Both the Congress and Senate control Congress. How the hell are the Repigs in charge? Don't you mean the House and Senate you insignificant insect?
PearlHowardman Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 Why is it Democrats b***h and moan about Republicans/President George Bush but when they get into office they do the same things that Republicans/George Bush do? 2006 midterm elections the Democrats take control of the HOUSE and Senate yet do nothing different? 2008 Barack "Change We Can Believe In" Obama is elected President and immediately appoints conservatives to handle his economic and foreign policy issues? P.S. blzrul: You have serious personal issues well beyond politics & football.
