That is so brilliant, please give us plenty more of that and keep it coming Lil Wayne! 8 nominations? Unbelievable.
Cugalabanza Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Do not dismiss Lil Wayne. He is possibly the greatest American songwriter since Bushwick Bill from the Geto Boys. Some of his ringtones will be remembered for weeks to come. The Grammy is a very serious award. They don't just give those out to no talent jerks you know.
Hazed and Amuzed Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Haven't ALL grammy nominations been a joke since Jethro Tull won for best Heavy Metal album? Anyone who has put any value on this ridiculous award or who gets nominated needs a head examination. I'm not the biggest fan of rap but Lil' Wayne is good at what he does. I have more of a problem with Coldplay getting 7, really 7? haven't they just put out the same album time after time? That pretentious finger-taping monkey thinks the world is in love with his music. Wait till they all realize they've been listening to the same song over and over. Why don't they just nominate Nickleback while they're at it? There's some creativity for you . Again, I'm not a Lil' Wayne advocate, in fact I own 0 songs on my Itunes with him but I have heard him and he is talented. Not 8 nominations talented mind you.
EndZoneCrew Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 I'd feel better if John Valby got 8 grammy nominations
KD in CA Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Do not dismiss Lil Wayne. He is possibly the greatest American songwriter since Bushwick Bill from the Geto Boys. Some of his ringtones will be remembered for weeks to come. The Grammy is a very serious award. They don't just give those out to no talent jerks you know. That's perfect.
SageAgainstTheMachine Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 The Grammys don't reward good musicians, they reward popular musicians. And as far as I know, it's the only awards show to act that way. Just ridiculous.
IDBillzFan Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 I'd feel better if John Valby got 8 grammy nominations I think anyone with any sense of music would easily agree that "Lupe" stands the test of time. It's as poignant and relevant today as it was when I first heard it in college.
Steely Dan Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 How'd they look over M.C. Peepants?! Do not dismiss Lil Wayne. He is possibly the greatest American songwriter since Bushwick Bill from the Geto Boys. Some of his ringtones will be remembered for weeks to come. The Grammy is a very serious award. They don't just give those out to no talent jerks you know. Didn't Homer Simpson win one with the B Flats?
VOR Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 The "Best New Artist" grammy is the kiss of death.
Cugalabanza Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 How'd they look over M.C. Peepants?! MC Peepants, the mentally insane, eight-foot spider who wears a shower cap and a diaper? Actually, MC Peepants was nominated, but the award for Most Audacious R&B Performance went to
WellDressed Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 My buddy keeps telling me the story when Kanye Weist didn't win a grammy and how he was politicking and shooting his mouth off.
Steely Dan Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 MC Peepants, the mentally insane, eight-foot spider who wears a shower cap and a diaper? Actually, MC Peepants was nominated, but the award for Most Audacious R&B Performance went to Yep, my fellow watching friend!
MattyT Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Actually, MC Peepants was nominated, but the award for Most Audacious R&B Performance went to I AIN'T GOT NO FLYIN' SHOES! A friggin' classic. I still sing the Gold Tooth song to myself from Rap the Musical every once in a while. "I am a gold tooth, and to tell you the truth, I live in the mouth of my homey!"
Wacka Posted December 4, 2008 Posted December 4, 2008 Rap is music??????? Yes, John Valby should be nominated. "Went to a party , what did I see? All these people , looking at me. Took off their coats and they took off their pants. I had a hunch we weren't gonna dance. Eat, Bite......." I lived in CT for several years. My friends said that I should go see this guy that sang dirty songs who was a blast. I didn't let on that I used to go see him every Friday at Melanies at Main and Transit. When he came on, the first dirty song he sang was Eat ,Bite. They were amazed that I knew every word and kept up with the speed. Then I told them I had seen him since 1975.
WellDressed Posted December 5, 2008 Posted December 5, 2008 WHAT? Uh Oh...............A Ha.....da gimp is DEEP VOICE...............It took a while, but it finally surfaces.
