When you bastardize the meaning of something, especially when you do so intentionally, you often get VERY undesirable side effects.

Yes. Like people stampeding and killing someone to buy a toy that some kid doesn't need to celebrate the birth of Christ because somehow that's what Christmas now means to so many people. That kinda puts me in mind of that "worshipping false gods thing" that was somewhere in those ten commandments.

Why don't they just return it to a pagan holiday and celebrate Jesus' birth nearer to when it might have actually happened?... Like 9 or so months after the Immaculate Conception in December (Septemeber or October)... Unless Jesus was a total "preme?" Or real late...

 

Celebrate it around the Nativity of Mary. Two for one birthdays! :worthy:

 

The idea in the first place was to "cleanse" it (the pagan holiday). You can see it is returning back to the early roots.
