stuckincincy Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I watched the game. on VERSUS (via TSN feed), which recently showed up on my TW cable. It's been years since I've seen CFL ball - old Ti-Cat fan here. Excellent, entertaining game, despite this Toronto Star wags' opinion... http://www.thestar.com/Sports/Football/article/542273 Idiot. CFL ball, it's field, its' rules are different that NFL, but it's great to view. Anyone that thinks that the players aren't talented, competitive athletes playing a fine brand of football would be in error. http://www.google.com/hostednews/canadianp...GQHjO2r9CgSXgJg Aside: The fans at Olympic Stadium were a sight to see themselves - great costumes and enthusiasm. I'll add that the sideline sports newsbunny was stunning!

I'll add that the sideline sports newsbunny was stunning! I went to high school in Winnipeg with that sideline bunny (Sara Orlesky). Shaftesbury Class of '97. She was a guy's girl. Knew more about sports than some of the jocks did. Real popular.

SageAgainstTheMachine Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 I wonder if Youppi was in attendance...
LabattBlue Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Calgary's kicker, Sandro DeAngelis who played HS football at St. Joes and is from Niagara Falls has had a successful career in the CFL. I'm not sure if he has ever been invited to an NFL camp, but you would think sooner or later he'd give it a shot...unless he is content playing in the CFL. http://cfl.ca/roster/show/id/408
Heels20X6 Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 What did you think of the contest? That Sun reporter wrote like he was suffering from Argo Angst, IMO. The game was okay. Typically, people will complain if the game doesn't turn into a shootout. Considering the caliber of the QBs playing (both Calvillo and Burris were lighting it up this season), I think people were disappointed that the game only had two touchdowns altogether. The atmosphere was great though as Montreal is one of the most partying cities in Canada (the $10 lap dances don't hurt... ). And actually....Youppi was in attendence.

Heels20X6 Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 So, did you? Bury the shaft I mean? No...I was that tool who dated the same girl from Grade 10 thru graduation.... D'OH!
SageAgainstTheMachine Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 How many CFL teams are there now? Just 8 now, but the 8 franchises are very stable.

I knew he must've been hiding somewhere.

Heels20X6 Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Really...the CFL field dimensions, those wide, wide hash marks.... I think the NFL closed the door to CFL kickers after the Argos gave them Mike "That idiot kicker" Vanderjagt.
Spun Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 The Montreal Gazette: http://www.canada.com/montrealgazette/news...8f-2cf6b645adf7 La Presse (Montreal - en francais): http://www.cyberpresse.ca/sports/football/...e-dun-roman.php One win in six isn't that bad for Als but the missed chance to win at home is painful. Do the Alouettes play all their games at Olympic Stadium? I was watching the Bills game in a sports bar and was thinking about requesting the Grey Cup game but I didn't think it would have made the cut. CFL football has a different feel to it. The Labor Day rivalry setup is unique. I hope the CFL survives with a CFL Toronto team. And an NFL Buffalo Bills playing in Buffalo (OP). The Alouettes have both UB Bull Gemara Williams and Chris Leak (Florida) on their inactive roster. Les Cheerleaders de Montreal: http://en.montrealalouettes.com/page/cheer_team Cheerleaders For Calgary: http://stampeders.com/outriders/team_roster/ CFL vs. NFL: http://stampeders.com/fan_guide/football_101/cfl_nfl/ The Rouge: Single point (rouge) None A. When punt or missed field goal by attacking team goes into end zone, and the defensive player recovers and is tackled in the end zone or puts their knee down B. When punt or missed field goal goes out of bounds or through the end zone 25 yard penalties for fighting!

aussiew Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Love CFL football. Used to watch it all the time when I lived in Buffalo. Can't ever get it in Texas.
Last Guy on the Bench Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Do the Alouettes play all their games at Olympic Stadium? No, they play at McGill U.'s rickety old stadium. The atmosphere there is pretty mellow compared to an NFL game, but it's still a fun time.

Much closer to the night life! If they knock down the O will they ever play another CFL championship in Montreal?
olivier in france Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Much closer to the night life! If they knock down the O will they ever play another CFL championship in Montreal? Probably not... But the O as bad as it is , is still the biggest stadium in Canada and actually a fun place when it's full like it was for the Grey cup last week end. We had the CFL on NASN those last few years but not this year, i really missed it... I really like their rules... That's now 5 lost finals for the Alouettes (and one win) since 2000...
