At least twice James Hardy was wide open over the middle of the field. The plays happen right in front of me. Everyone around me said the same thing. As to why Hardy was benched I cant tell you, last I heard he had a injury?

Well, MNF had their facts wrong on a few occasions...

1) Kept saying Steve Johnson got his first catch of the year during the game---no he didn't caught at least one pass a few games ago...

Hey, give them a break - his first catch was all the way back in Week 5 against the Cards. How could The Worldwide Leader in Sports be expected to know that? Or that he caught passes in Week 9 vs. the Jests and Week 10 vs. the P*ts?

This seems like what all the Tuesday Morning QBs are saying...I don't think it's concussion-related, as Jaws talked about last night. And I don't think it's all the loss of Josh Reed.

And did I hear during the broadcast, that the Bills have not attempted a play-action pass ALL season?!?!?

its at least 70% edwards but hardy sucking and reed being out really don't help. we need to hav emnore of marshawn and fred jackson in the game together. only bright spot

Who's van pelt?? Not Alex??? Is he still QB coach for the Bills??

Tirico and Van Pelt talking about the game last night. Nothing we haven't already discussed here but interesting to hear it on a National radio show

1) VP- cannot remember a more remarkable FG (56 yarder) in a cold weather game regardless of the wind conditions.

**warms my heart to know this can only happen to the Bills right?!?

2) VP- cannot understand why the Bills ran 3 straight into the line, as if to "settle" for a 47 yd FG. Thought it was awful play calling and left Lindell in a bad situation.

Tirico- they were terrified to let Trent throw. They couldn't do it.

3) VP- cannot understand whats happened to TE?!?

Tirico- TE was awful, has no vision right now, has no confidence, has no ability ti run the offense. Not sure if its concussion related? Never seen anything like it. Said the Bills had open WR's and TE's all night.

4) Browns have no defense and that will have to improve for them to be a factor down the road. Quinn was not great but got a W. His time is now.

They have done a bit of play action. Trent doesn't sell it well and you're asking him to take his eyes off the defense momentarily which is not playing to his strength (reading the defense quickly). I don't agree with it, but that might be part of the reason.

Trent Edwards is/was all fouled up. His timing was non-existent. He was glacial in his reads and recognitions. Assuming he was reading and recognizing anything at all. He had no confidence at all. And, his accuracy is gone. On some of those dump-offs to a totally uncovered Lynch, Lynch had to make a circus catch before he could get going.

Was he frozen mentally and physically? Geesh.

Maybe not, but the things that Trent is killing us with right now (holding on to the ball too long, not making quick decisions) have not really ever been his problems in the past...if guys were open downfield all night (as everyone keeps saying, I will take their word for it), a healthy headed Trent would have found them. On NFL Matchup, while previewing the game, they broke down a play against the Pats, where Trent had time, checked past three open receivers, and dumped the ball off to Fred Jackson. He scanned the field on the play. He just doesn't look the same as he did last season (I know he wasn't amazing last year either, so everybody calm down), or even a month ago. Maybe it is just defenses catching up with him, or maybe he is just regressing as some say...but the problems he is having just don't add up.

2) Play Action passes were used quite a bit in a few games...not sure what game film they were watching. I specifically remember the Bills running the same play action, rollout bootleg in which Edwards hit the TE to seal the Jacksonville game and also pick up a FD in another game....

I noticed too, really they just need to look at the stat sheet about the catch.

We have used play-action but no where near enough to sell it.

I am so frustrated we don't use it and screen-passes to help set the run game up more. I don't care if they lose yardage it keeps a D honest.

That is just not true. It seemed like every time they showed the wide screen on replays, there was not a lot of separation.

Kelso was saying on the radio, again and again, that Trent had a reciever open downfield but he just wasn't looking for it. He said Trent was not scanning the field, and on a couple of plays he complained that Trent had stared down the reciever, allowing the defender to know he wanted to go to.

Kelso was in the stadium, and like Alex Van Pelt, he is an awesome analyst. There really were guys open downfield a lot.

Kelso also said that on one or two of the INTs and several defended passes, the reason the defender was able to make a play was that Trent had double-clutched, which again told the defender where he was going and gave him a chance to close.

Trent is just not playing well right now. At the beginning of the year he really was playing well, against bad teams, but still playing well. But Cleveland is also a bad team, and Trent had a bad game. He has reverted to last year's bad habits, not going long, and throwing checkdowns even in 3rd and long and even with guys open downfield.

He might be able to pull it together, but if he continues playing the way he's playing now, the Bills are in real trouble, and not just this year.
