Steely Dan
This is the biggest thing that bothered me once he was caught. He killed two children and they let him out of prison. Why they ever let him out of prison ever, ever, ever is beyond me. If you rape and kill and 8 year old girl and kill a 10 year old boy you should never see the light of day again. He died on Monday. Good riddance to bad trash! Say hi to for me mother !!! Linkage An excerpt from the article. Child killer Had the prostitutes known Shawcross' past, they likely would have immediately considered him a suspect. In 1972, Shawcross pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter after raping and strangling an 8-year-old girl and killing a 10-year-old boy in Watertown, Jefferson County, where Shawcross had moved with his family from Maine. Prosecutors allowed Shawcross to plead guilty to manslaughter so he would lead them to the bodies. He was paroled in 1987 and essentially run out of one New York town after authorities there learned of his record. Parole officials helped Shawcross settle in Rochester. To this day, there are disagreements over what information — if any — parole officials gave local police about Shawcross. McCrary, the retired FBI profiler, helped local police with the hunt for Shawcross. Police looked through parole records for suspects, said McCrary, who lives in Stafford, Va., and credits local police with solving the serial slayings. "We immediately asked, 'How about parolees?' " McCrary said. "And he wasn't on the list." In January 1990, State Police surveilled Northampton Park in Ogden by helicopter after suspicions that a woman may have disappeared from there. McCaffrey was in the helicopter. Flying over the park, "I observed underneath a bridge a body frozen in the ice," McCaffrey said. "At the same time, on top of the bridge was a gray Chevrolet Celebrity." Shawcross was on the bridge, urinating into a bottle, and then drove away in the Celebrity. McCaffrey alerted State Police and they followed him to a Spencerport nursing home where Shawcross' girlfriend worked. Police questioned Shawcross for hours that day, then brought him in for more questioning the next day, after another woman's body was discovered near Northampton Park. During questioning by Rochester police investigators, Shawcross confessed to 11 killings. He shuffled through photographs of dead women and nonchalantly stacked pictures of the ones he'd slain, as if "he were dealing a deck of cards," police said. After the confessions, Shawcross led police to two undiscovered victims.

Steely Dan
Liberal judges and lawmakers. He should have been executed in the 1970s. In this situation he should have been put behind bars forever and let the other prisoners take care of him. They don't take kindly to child molesters. I'd rather see him tortured for the rest of his life.

Other prisoners do things to Short Eyes that I won't mention here, but we all know what they are.

Steely Dan
Question??????......How can you rape and strangle an 8 yr old girl and only go down for MAN 1????They shoulda put him in a plastic shredder. I am totally mystified by that. It said they cut a deal with him to lead them to the bodies but I'd be torn as a parent. Do I want to be able to bury my child or do I want this guy to get the maximum penalty. Tough choice. Any deal cut should have been we'll keep you separated from the general prison population for ten years of your life term.

Steely Dan
This is fascinating, I never knew this about the alphabet killings. Kenneth Bianchi may have been the killer.?! This serial murderer terrorized Rochester, New York, and the surrounding area from 1971 until 1973. He claimed the lives of three innocent little Rochester girls before he was finished, dumping heir bodies in nearby towns. Then he apparently vanished, never to surface again. Dubbed "The Alphabet Murders" because in each case the victims first and last name and the town they were discovered slain in began with the same letter. The slayings began when 11-year-old Carmen Colon was found murdered in Chuchville in 1971. Wanda Walcowicz (reported as being either 10 or 11) was found slain in Webster in 1972. The final victim was Michelle Maenza, 10, discovered in Macedon in 1973. Each girl showed evidence of being raped before death. In addition to the alphabet angle and the obvious age similarity, all three victims were from poor Roman Catholic families in Rochester and were reportedly in trouble at school, sparking speculation that the three homicides could have been committed by some sort of counselor that had access to all three girls. After his arrest as one of Los Angeles' "Hillside Stranglers" Kenneth Bianchi became a suspect in the homicides of Colon, Walcowicz, and Maenza. Bianchi was born in Rochester and still lived there when the girls were murdered, but no evidence was ever found to connect him with the killings.
