(OT) Charter Cable Modems vs. Motorola Surfboard

... thanks to the mods for some exposure on the big board ... time is of essence ! ... i have the option of getting a modem on my own (Surfboard) or buying the charter brand ... which one is better ? ... can you run phone service AND Linksys ? ... would Vonage work with both modems ? ... thanks ! ... tom
