KRC Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Sixty years ago, the Cleveland Browns accomplished something that only one other professional football team in history was able to accomplish. They had a perfect season. The 1972 Miami Dolphins are the only ones to get credit for this accomplishment, but the Browns attained this goal first. Lost in the Cleveland Browns achievement is another notable accomplishment. For the first time in the city’s history, a professional football team from Buffalo was participating in a major league professional football championship game. 1948 AAFC Championship Game Next Week: 1966 AFL Championship Game
Chandler#81 Posted November 11, 2008 Posted November 11, 2008 Ok! Another Buffalo Bills championship game! Damn.. another loss in a championsgip game.. The best thing for me reliving champioship games is how many of the players on the field that day would eventually become HOFer's or very well known. George Young, Sweet Lou, Ratterman, Paul Brown, Marion Motley and Tommy James and Shondells! Thanks Ken!

The Browns had 7 HoFers on that '48 team: Paul Brown Marion Motley Otto Graham Frank Gatski Lou Groza Dante Lavelli Bill Willis That does not include Mac Speedie, who people talk about deserving induction. They were a friggin' machine that year. Of course, you could always look at it that they needed past and future Bills in order to win that championship: Chet Adams Ollie Cline Tom Colella (Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame inductee) Chubby Grigg Ben Pucci George Terlep

In 6 NFL seasons, he played in 6 NFL title games and won 3. Oh yeah, in those 4 AAFC seasons, he only won 'bout........4 AAFC titles. Ridiculous.

Unfortunately, his football acumen didn't rub off on his son...
